Quayside - Prohibition All vehicles For 5/10K Running Event

CITY OF NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE
(QUAYSIDE 5/10K RUNNING EVENT) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2025

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on 10th July 2025 the Council of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne made an Order under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, and has received consent from the Secretary of State for Transport to make such an Order.

The effect of the Order will be to prohibit all vehicles from proceeding on the following lengths of road -

(a) Skinnerburn Road, Close, Sandhill and Quayside - between their junctions with Amethyst Road, Milk Market and Dean Street;

(b) Low City Road - between its junctions with Milk Market and City Road;

(c) Lombard Street and Queen Street - between their junctions with Sandhill and Quayside.

2. The alternative route for vehicles will be via the existing highway network.

3. The Order is required to facilitate the “Quayside 5/10k Running Event” (“the Event”), to enable members of the public to watch the Event and to reduce the disruption to traffic likely to be caused by the Event. The Order is required to allow the Event to be carried out safely on or near the highway and to ensure the health and safety of the general public.

4. Exemptions will be provided for police, fire brigade and ambulance vehicles on emergency call and vehicles associated with the event.

5. The Order will come into operation on 6th August from 6pm to 9pm and will be in effect, as and when relevant traffic signs are displayed.
