Essex County Council
(Various Roads, Kelvedon) (20mph Zone) Order 2025.
Notice is hereby given that Essex County Council has made the above Order under Sections 84(1) (a) and (2) and Part III of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).
The Effect of the Order: To implement a 20mph Zone in Kelvedon in the District of Braintree (including private drives, and any turning heads)

Documents can be made available for inspection 8.30am–5.30pm Mon–Thurs and 8.30am–5pm on Friday at Essex County Council, County Hall E block main reception, Market Road, Chelmsford.
Application to the high court: Anyone who wishes to question the validity of the Order of any provision contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) or on the grounds that any requirement of the Act, or any instrument made under it, has not been complied with in relation to the Order, may within six weeks from the date of the making of the Order apply to the High Court for this purpose.
(Colemans Bridge/Little Braxted Lane, Rivenhall End) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
To temporarily close that length of Colemans Bridge, Rivenhall End in the District of Braintree, from its junction with Little Braxted Lane to its junction with Colchester Road a distance of approximately 170m.
To temporarily close that length of Little Braxted Lane, Rivenhall End in the District of Braintree, from its junction with Colemans Bridge for a distance of approximately 85m in a south easterly direction.
The closures are scheduled to commence on 19th August 2025 for 4 nights (21:00–05:00), or where stated on a valid permit (FN40603736294/ FN40677496686 – National Highways). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network.
The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce while resurfacing works are undertaken by National Highways on the A12.
An alternative route is available via A12, B1024 and A12 or A12, North east slip road for Hatfield Peverel and back on A12.
The Order will come into effect on 24th July 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Hyde Lane, The Salings)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Hyde Lane, The Salings in the District of Braintree, from its junction with Bardfield Road to its junction with Mounts Farm Road a distance of approximately 785m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 11th August 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2385869 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while drainage works are undertaken by Essex County Council.
An alternative route is available via Hyde Lane, Victoria Hill, Shalford Green, Boarded Barns Road, Bardfield Road and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 24th July 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(The Street, Feering)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of The Street, Feering in the District of Braintree, from its junction with Hanover Bridge for a distance of approximately 215m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 11th August 2025 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC454-WG6D0J7X – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while frame and cover works are undertaken by Openreach.
An alternative route is available via The Street, Coggeshall Road, London Road, New Lane, Hanover Bridge and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 24th July 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Various Roads, District of Braintree) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway)
& (South Street/Bridge Street & Newland Street, Witham) (Temporary Suspension of Weight Restriction) (No.13) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
To temporarily close those lengths of roads in the District of Braintree as specified in the Schedule.
A temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ restriction will be introduced on both sides of carriageway on the above lengths of roads for the duration of the closures to facilitate the works. Signs will be installed indicating when the No Waiting restriction will be in force.
“The Essex County Council (Braintree District) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019” will be temporarily amended to include the temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping at Any Time’ restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above lengths of roads only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.
To temporarily suspend the 7.5 tonne weight restriction in that length of South Street, Braintree, from its junction with Silks Way to its junction with Railway Street as detailed in The Essex County Council (South Street, Braintree) (7.5 Tonne Weight Restriction) Order 2010 for the duration of the closures only.
To temporarily suspend the 7.5 tonne weight restriction in that length of Bridge Street/Newland Street, Witham from the junction with Spinks Lane to the junction with Maldon Road as detailed in The Essex County Council (Bridge Street & Newlands Street, Witham) (7.5 Tonne Weight Restriction) Order 2009 for the duration of the closures only.
The works being undertaken will take place within an 18-month period from 24th July 2025; exact dates will be specified on One.network. The roads will be closed to facilitate each phase of works and then re-opened to the public. Access will be maintained for emergency services. Diversion routes will be signed at each location and residents will be informed of the dates of each phase via letter/leaflet drop and advanced warning signs on the road.
