What is happening?

Essex County Council

(Footpath 36, Great Burstead & South Green)

(Temporary Prohibition of Use) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the above Order made by Essex County Council, under s14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, has been continued in force with the consent of the Secretary of State for the Department for Transport until 24 January 2026.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close Footpath 36, Great Burstead & South Green in the Borough of Basildon, from its junction with Bridleway 34, south for approximately 400 metres.

The alternative route will be via Bridleway 34, a path along the western edge of the Crays Hall Solar Development, within land controlled by the applicant and vice versa.

The closure commenced on 24 January 2025 and is required for the safety of the public and workforce while the construction of a solar development adjacent to the footpath is undertaken.

(Spa Road & Woodlands Road, Hockley)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close that length of Spa Road, Hockley in the District of Rochford, from its junction with Main Road to its junction with Bramerton Road, a distance of approximately 45m.

  2. To temporarily close that length of Woodlands Road, Hockley in the District of Rochford, from its junction with Main Road for a distance of approximately 30m in a south westerly direction.

The closures are scheduled to commence on 11th August 2025 for 24 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AZ5021001400723 & AZ5021001401781 – Cadent).

The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce while mains replacement works are undertaken by Cadent.

Alternative routes available via:

  1. Spa Road, Station Road, Great Eastern Road, Southend Road and vice versa.

  2. Woodlands Road, Kilnwood Avenue, Hockley Rise, Southend Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 24th July 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Oxford Road, Rochford)

(Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily introduce a ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ in that length of Oxford Road, Rochford in the District of Rochford from its junction with Ashingdon Road for a distance of approximately 190m in a north easterly direction.

“The Essex County Council (Rochford District) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019” will be temporarily amended to include the temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping at Any Time’ restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above lengths of roads only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.

The clearway is scheduled to commence on 12th August 2025 for 4 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP02248092008 – Portakabin). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The clearway is required for the safety of the public and workforce while Portakabin facilitates HGV’s deliveries.

The Order will come into effect on 24th July 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Borrowdale Close, Thundersley)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Borrowdale Close, Thundersley in the Borough of Castle Point, from a point approximately 70m south east of its junction with Borrowdale Road for a distance of approximately 35m in a north easterly direction.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 29th July 2025 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC411001WG7P9C5V – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole replacement works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via Borrowdale Close, Borrowdale Road and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 10th July 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Canvey Way, Bowers Gifford) (Layby Only)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Canvey Way, Bowers Gifford (Layby Only) in the Borough of Basildon, from a point approximately 460m south west of the junction with A130 New Bypass (Rayleigh Spur Roundabout) for a distance of approximately 200m in a south westerly direction.

The closure will continue on from 11th July 2025 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP20153086760 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce to facilitate vehicles and machine plants storage for works on Sadlers Farm Roundabout by Essex County Council.

The Order came into effect on 11th July 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Nether Mayne, Basildon)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Nether Mayne, Basildon in the District of Basildon, from its junction with The Knares to its junction with Cherrydown West for a distance of approximately 110m in both directions. The closure is scheduled to commence on 28th July 2025 for 11 nights (20:00–05:00), or where stated on a valid permit (EP20185699938 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while bridge refurbishment works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via A176, A1321, A132, A13, A176 and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 17th July 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Southernhay, Basildon)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close that length of Southernhay, Basildon in the Borough of Basildon, from its junction with Market Pavement to its junction with Clay Hill Road for a distance of approximately 220m in both directions.

  2. To temporarily close the (directional westbound lane only) in that length of Southernhay, Basildon in the Borough of Basildon, from its junction with Clay Hill Road for a distance of approximately 220m in a westerly direction.

Closure 1 is scheduled to commence on 28th July 2025 – 08:00 to 8th September 2025 – 06:00 for 43 days, then

Closure 2 (Directional Lane) is scheduled to commence on 8th September 2025 – 06:00 to 30th November 2025 – 16:30 for 84 days, or where stated on a valid permit (KL799FSS2-24-20-280725 – Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd).

The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce for embankment stabilisation, sheet pile retaining wall installation and new platform re-instatement works undertaken by Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd.

An alternative route is available via Clay Hill Road, Cherrydown East, Station Way and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 10th July 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Woodside Avenue, Thundersley)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Woodside Avenue, Thundersley in the Borough of Castle Point, from its junction with Roseberry Avenue for a distance of approximately 20m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 29th July 2025 for 18 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC411SA001WFSR811C – Openreach).

The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while ducting and cabling works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via Woodside Avenue, Manor Road, Eversley Road, Moreland Avenue and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 10th July 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
