What is happening?

SOUTH TYNESIDE COUNCIL
LEAM LANE (WESTBOUND CARRIAGEWAY),
JARROW
TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING
ORDER 2025
Notice is hereby given that on 17/7/25 South
Tyneside Council made an Order under S.14(1)
of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the
Act”) the effect of which will be to temporarily
prohibit driving on the following sections of
road:- Leam Ln (Westbound carriageway), West
Boldon, from its junction with Mill Ln
Roundabout to its junction with White Mare Pool
Roundabout. The Order is required because
works are being or are proposed to be executed
on or near the road, and in particular to enable
National Highways to resurface the highway.
The Order will come into force on the 17/7/25.
The maximum duration of the prohibition under
this Order will be 18 mths however it is
anticipated that the prohibition will only be
needed between 20:00p.m - 06:00a.m from
21/7/25 for 4 nights. All vehicles except those
engaged in the works, will be prohibited on the
road described above for the duration of the
works. The prohibition shall only apply at
such times and to such extent as may from time
to time be indicated by the display of traffic
signs. During the prohibition, the alternative
route will be via Leam Ln, A184 J A194m/A194
Roundabout, Newcastle Rd, A184 From J
A194m/A194 Roundabout To J A184
Roundabout E, A19 J A184 Roundabout, A19 J
A184 Join N, A19 From J A184 To J A194 N,
A19 Tyne Tunnel To Testos Roundabout, A19
Through J A194 N, A19 J A194 Leave N & vice
versa.
