Isambard Brunel Road - Introduce A Bus Lane
What is happening?
THE PORTSMOUTH CITY COUNCIL (ISAMBARD BRUNEL ROAD) (BUS LANE) ORDER 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Portsmouth City Council made the above Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 on 16 July 2025.
1. The effect of the Order will be to introduce a bus lane (for use by buses, taxis and cycles only at any time), as currently signed in the following locations:
a. Isambard Brunel Road (southbound) from Hyde Park Road to Winston Churchill Avenue Roundabout;
b. Winston Churchill Avenue Roundabout (eastbound) from Isambard Brunel Road to Winston Churchill Avenue; and
c. Winston Churchill Avenue (eastbound) from Winston Churchill Avenue Roundabout eastwards for 48 metres.
2. A copy of the Order is available to view on Portsmouth City Council’s website: search "Traffic Regulation Orders 2025" at

3. Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or any of its provisions, on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the relevant enabling Act, or that a requirement of any such enabling Act or of any relevant regulations made thereunder has not been complied with, may, within 6 weeks from the date of the Order, make application for this purpose to the High Court.
4. This Order comes into operation on 19 July 2025.
