What is happening?

THE CITY OF SUNDERLAND
(DEPTFORD AREA PROHIBITION OF WAITING, LOADING AND OTHER RESTRICTIONS) TRAFFIC ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that on 17th July 2025 Sunderland City Council made an Order under Sections 1, 2, 4, 32, 35, 45, 46, 49, 53 and 122 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, by virtue of the Traffic Management Act 2004 and all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 of the Act. The effect of the Order which comes into force on 25th July 2025 is to: (1) introduce no waiting at anytime restrictions on those sections of highway listed in schedule 1; (2) introduce no waiting Monday – Friday between the hours of 8.00am and 6.00pm restrictions on those sections of highway listed in schedule 2; (3) introduce prohibition of loading restrictions operating all days and all hours on those sections of highway listed in schedule 3; (4) introduce a 3 hours parking limit with no return within 3 hours operating Monday – Friday between the hours of 8.00am and 6.00pm along the lengths of roads in Schedule 4 below; (5) introduce loading bays operating all days and all hours on those sections of highway listed in schedule 5 below; (6) introduce on-street pay by phone parking places operating all days and all hours with a charge of 60p per hour or part thereof or £3.50 per day on those sections of roads in Schedule 6 below; and (7) revoke a number of items from various traffic orders affecting the area as listed in Schedule 7 below. Documents giving more detailed particulars of the Order may be inspected during normal opening hours at City Hall, Plater Way, Sunderland SR1 3AA, until six weeks have elapsed from the date on which the Order is made or, as the case may be, the Council decides not to proceed to make the Order. Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or of any of its provisions on the grounds that it or they are not within the powers conferred by the Act or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act or of any instrument made under the Act has not been complied with may within six weeks from the date on which the Order is made apply for the purpose to the High Court.

(iii) the north-west side from a point 143.3 metres north-west of its intersection with the extended north-western highway boundary of Beach Street, for a distance of 23.5 metres in a south-westerly then westerly direction. (iv) the south-east side from a point 77.3 metres north-west of its intersection with the extended north-western highway boundary of Beach Street, for a distance of 82.0 metres in a north-westerly then south-westerly direction.
