What is happening?
THE BOROUGH OF SWALE (OFF STREET PARKING PLACES)
(VARIATION No. 8) ORDER 2025
Notice is hereby given that SWALE BOROUGH COUNCIL have made the above Order under section 35 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, having obtained the consent of the Kent County Council in accordance with Section 39(3) of the Act, and of all other enabling powers, and after consultation with the chief officer of police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 of the Act -
The Order will;
Introduce an overnight charge in the Shingle Bank Car Park including the areas of green opposite, and Shellness Road (land situated to the north-east/east of Shellness Road) to a Pay by Phone parking facility and introduce overnight parking Charges.

The Order will also prohibit overnight Parking by “Motorhomes” to Park between the hours of 8pm and 8am in the Little Oyster Car Park, Minster, Barton’s Point Coastal Park Car Park, Minster and Ship on Shore Car Park, Minster.

The Order includes some wording changes of an administrative matter that will make no alterations to existing parking and waiting restrictions and will require no changes to existing parking lines or signs.
The Order was made on 15th July 2025 and will come into effect on 1st August 2025.
A copy of the Order, any Orders which will be amended by the Order, a statement of the Council’s reasons for making the Order and indicating the location and effect may be examined at the Reception Desk, Swale House, East Street, Sittingbourne, Kent, ME10 3HT between 10.00am and 12.00 Mid-day from 25th July 2025.
Any person wishing to question the validity of an Order or any of its provisions on the ground that it is not within the powers of the relevant enabling Act or that a requirement of any such enabling Act or of any relevant regulations made thereunder has not been complied with may, within 6 weeks from the date on which the Order was made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.
