(CRANFIELD: PART OF FOOTPATH NO. 22 AND BRIDLEWAY NO. 57)

PUBLIC PATH STOPPING UP ORDER 2025 (NO. 2)

On the 11 July 2025 Central Bedfordshire Council confirmed the above Order made under Section 257 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990.

The effect of the Order as confirmed is to stop up part of Footpath No. 22, Cranfield and Bridleway No. 57, Cranfield and create an alternative bridleway. The effect of the Order will also be to revoke the CENTRAL BEDFORDSHIRE COUNCIL (CRANFIELD: PART OF FOOTPATH NO. 22 AND BRIDLEWAY NO. 57) PUBLIC PATH STOPPING UP ORDER 2025 made on 31 January 2025.

The length of Footpath No. 22, Cranfield to be stopped up extends from its junction with an unaffected section of Footpath No. 22, Cranfield at Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OS GR) SP 9519 4375 in a northnorth-easterly direction for approximately 30 meters to terminate at its junction with Crawley Road at OS GR SP 9520 4378.

The footpath is stopped up across its full width.

The length of Bridleway No. 57, Cranfield to be stopped up extends from its junction with Merchant Lane at Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OS GR) SP 9485 4287 in a generally northerly direction for approximately 401 meters to terminate at its junction with College Road at OS GR SP 9487 4326.

The bridleway is stopped up across its full width.

The length of Bridleway No. 57, Cranfield to be created extends from its junction with Merchant Lane at Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OS GR) SP 9457 4285 in a north-easterly direction for approximately  195 metres along a surfaced path to its junction with Footpath No. 41, Cranfield at OS GR SP 9472 4298 then continues in a generally north-easterly direction for approximately 335 metres along a surfaced path to its junction with Footpath No. 22, Cranfield at OS GR SP 9488 4326 then continues in a generally north-easterly direction for approximately 619 metres along a surfaced path to its junction with Footpath No. 22, Cranfield at OS GR SP 9519 4375 then continues in a generally east-south-easterly direction for approximately 31 metres along a surfaced path to its junction with an unaffected part of Footpath No. 22, Cranfield at OS GR SP 9522 4374 then continues in a northnorth-easterly direction for approximately 22 metres to terminate at its junction with Crawley Road at OS GR SP 9523 4376.

The new route of the bridleway has a width of 6 metres and subsumes Footpath No. 20, Cranfield and part of Footpath No. 22, Cranfield within the width of the new route of the bridleway.

The Order comes into force on the date on which Central Bedfordshire Council certify that the public bridleway described in Part 2 of the Schedule of the Order has been set out to their satisfaction, but if a person aggrieved by the Order desires to question its validity, or that of any provision contained in it, on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the Act, or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act or any regulation made under it has not been complied with in relation to the confirmation of the order, he or she may apply to the High Court for any of these purposes under section 287 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 within 6 weeks from the date on which notice is first published as required by paragraph 7 of Schedule 14 to that Act.

(STEPPINGLEY: PART OF FOOTPATH NO. 1) PUBLIC PATH DIVERSION ORDER 2025

On the 11 July 2025 Central Bedfordshire Council confirmed the above Order made under Section 119 of the Highways Act 1980. The effect of the Order as confirmed is to divert the following length of part of Public Footpath No. 1, Steppingley.

The length of Footpath No. 1, Steppingley to be stopped up extends from its junction with an unaffected part of Footpath No. 1, Steppingley at Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OS GR) TL 0136 3598 in a northeasterly direction for approximately 566 metres to terminate at its junction with Fordfield Road at OS GR TL 0177 3637.

The footpath is stopped up across its full width.

The length of Footpath No. 1, Steppingley to be created extends from its junction with an unaffected part of Footpath No. 1, Steppingley at Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OS GR) TL 0136 3598 in a northnorth-westerly direction for approximately 8 metres to OS GR TL 0136 3599 then continues in a generally north-easterly direction across a bridge for approximately 215 metres to OS GR TL 0151 3613 then continues in a generally north-easterly direction around the bottom of the banked sides of the lake for approximately 95 metres to OS GR TL 0158 3619 then continues in a generally north-north-easterly direction for approximately 111 metres to OS GR TL 0162 3629 then continues in a north-easterly direction along a surfaced track for approximately 168 metres to terminate at its junction with Footpath No. 26, Millbrook and the Millbrook-Steppingley parish boundary at OS GR TL 0176 3637.

The new route of the footpath has a width of 2 metres.

The length of Footpath No. 26, Millbrook to be created extends from its junction with Footpath No. 1, Steppingley and the Millbrook-Steppingley parish boundary at OS GR TL 0176 3637 in a generally north-northeasterly direction for approximately 38 metres to terminate at its junction with Fordfield Road at OS GR TL 0177 3640.

The new route of the footpath has a width of 2 metres.

The Order comes into force on 18 July 2025 but if a person aggrieved by the Order wants to question its validity, or that of any provision contained in it, on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980, as amended, or of any regulation made under the Act has not been complied with in relation to the Order, he or she may, under paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Act as applied by paragraph 5 of Schedule 6 to the Act, within 6 weeks from 17 July 2025 make an application to the High Court.
