Epsom and Ewell, Multiple Traffic Notices, Temporary Road Closures and Restrictions due to Utility, Maintenance and Resurfacing Works

What is happening?

Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025

On 7 July 2025, Surrey County Council made the above-mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Gibraltar Crescent (D2175) Epsom as extends from its junction with Longmead Road (D2266) to its junction with Brook Close (XZZ).

Alternative Route – Longmead Road.

This Order is required to enable the Council to facilitate repairs to the culvert and associated works. These works are anticipated to be carried out as soon as possible during the 18-month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 22 July 2025. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation for 24-hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Any vehicle found to be obstructing the highway during these works will be removed to outside the limits of the works after all reasonable methods have been undertaken to contact the vehicle’s owner.

A240 Kingston Road and B284 Ruxley Lane, Ewell

Temporary Banned Turns Order 2025

On 09 July 2025 Surrey County Council made the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to:-

1. Prohibit vehicles that are proceeding in a north-easterly direction on B284 Ruxley Lane, Ewell from turning left into A240 Kingston Road.

2. Prohibit vehicles that are proceeding in a south-easterly direction on A240 Kingston Road, Ewell from turning right into B284 Ruxley Lane.

This Traffic Order is required to enable Surrey County Council to carry out traffic signal refurbishment and/or repair and/or maintenance and/or highway works. These works are anticipated to be carried out between the hours of 7am and 5pm, within 4 weeks of the 12 month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 21 July 2025.

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary banned turns, which are anticipated to be required for 24 hours each day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for emergency services, residents and businesses will be maintained at all times via the alternative route on A240 Kingston Road (south-eastbound), to its roundabout junction with A240 Ewell By-Pass, C254 Kingston Road and D2329 Park Avenue West, to return on A240 Kingston Road (north-westbound). Any vehicle found to be obstructing the highway during these works will be removed to a suitable location outside the limits of the works after all reasonable methods have been undertaken to identify and contact the vehicle’s owner.

Access for pedestrians and, dismounted cyclists and equestrians will be maintained.

D2202 Woodcote Green Road, Epsom

Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025

On 09 July 2025 Surrey County Council made the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of D2202 Woodcote Green Road, Epsom that extends from its junction with D2268 Woodcote Side, to its junction with Sunnybank. This Traffic Order is required to enable Southern Gas Networks to carry out gas mains installation and/or connection and/or maintenance works. These works are anticipated to be carried out in 2 sections, between the hours of 8am and 4:30pm, within 6 weeks of the 12 month period of operation of this Temporary Order that commences on 23 July 2025. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure which is anticipated to be required for 24 hours each day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for affected businesses and residences will be maintained at all times. Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times via the local access footway just south of the affected length of Woodcote Green Road. Access for emergency services and for equestrians will be maintained at all times via the alternative route:- Woodcote Side, A24 Dorking Road, Woodcote Road.

D2203 Heathcote Road, Epsom

Temporary Suspension of One-Way Traffic Order 2025

On 9 July 2025 Surrey County Council made the above-mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) and 14(7) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) the effect of which will be to suspend the order imposing an easterly one-way system on D2203 Heathcote Road, Epsom between Ashley Road and Worple Road, namely “The Borough of Epsom and Ewell (Various Roads) (One-Way Traffic) Order 1970” (as amended), insofar as it relates to the above length of D2203 Heathcote Road only.

This Order is required to enable Surrey County Council to facilitate resurfacing works and/or major maintenance works, which is anticipated to be completed as soon as possible within the 18 month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 16 July 2025. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary suspension of the Order will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed and to the extent indicated by those signs.
