What is happening?

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF FOOTPATH 

THE NOTTINGHAMSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL (ASKHAM FOOTPATH NO.16) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION) CONTINUATION NO.2 ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Secretary of State Transport in pursuance of the powers conferred by Sections 14 and 15 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 approves of “The Nottinghamshire County Council (Askham Footpath No.16) (Temporary Prohibition) Notice 2025” (which came into force on 15th January 2025 and was continued in force by a Continuation Order which remains in force until 14th July 2025 inclusive) being extended and continuing in force until 14th January 2026 or until completion of the relevant works, whichever is the sooner.

The Order has the following effect:-

No person shall: -
(a) proceed on foot, in the following length of Footpath at Askham in the District of Bassetlaw: -

Askham Footpath No.16, from Town Street to where it meets with open land across fields.

AND NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN that during the period of restriction there is no alternative route available for pedestrians on public rights of way.

If the works are not completed within the above period, the Order may be extended for a longer period with the further approval of the Secretary of State for Transport.

The prohibition is required to protect public safety due to the damaged surface on the first section of the path.
