Galsworthy Road - 20MPH Order
What is happening?
SOUTH TYNESIDE COUNCIL (GALSWORTHY ROAD AREA, SOUTH SHIELDS 20MPH) ORDER 2024
On 2 July 2025 South Tyneside Council made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers. The Order which comes into operation on 25 September 2025 will REDUCE the speed limit to 20 mph on:- Galsworthy Road, from its junction with Whiteleas Way for 390m in a westerly direction to its junction with Benton Rd; Whiteleas Way, from its junction with Percy Scott St for 250m in a southerly direction to its junction with Galsworthy Rd; Benton Rd from its junction with Galsworthy Rd for 50m in a southerly direction to its junction with Jesmond Gardens and Jesmond Gardens for its entire length. Full details are contained in the Order, which, together with a plan showing the lengths of road
affected and a statement of the Council’s reasons for making the Order, may be inspected from Monday to Friday between 10am and 2pm at the Town Hall, Westoe Road, South Shields, NE33 2RL. Any person who wishes to question the validity of the Order or any of its provisions on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Act or that any of the requirements of the Act or of any relevant regulations made under the Act have not been complied with may, within 6 weeks from 2 July
2025 when the Order was made, make an application for that purpose to the High Court.
