ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14(1)
TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC & 30-MPH SPEED LIMIT, ORDER 2025
THE FAIRWAY, WOODSIDE, THORNDON PARK DRIVE, BELFAIRS PARK DRIVE, EASTWOOD OLD ROAD, MOOR PARK GARDENS & BROADCLYST AVENUE
Notice is hereby given that Southend-on-Sea City Council intends, no less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
The Effect of the order will be to prohibit any vehicle from: -
Prohibition of traffic on The Fairway from Arterial Road A127 to its junction with Eastwood Road North – These works will be done in phases and will only be closed using directional closures Northbound then Southbound, dates for phases and directional closures will be displayed on site.
Entering and exiting Woodside at the junction with The Fairway.
Entering and exiting Thorndon Park Drive at its junction with The Fairway.
Entering and exiting Belfairs Park Drive at its junction with The Fairway.
Entering and exiting Eastwood Old Road at its junction with The Fairway & BP petrol Station.
Entering and exiting Eastwood Old Road at its junction with the Fairway side of No 171.
Entering and exiting Moor Park Gardens at its junction with The Fairway.
Speed reduction from 30MPH to 20MPH on Moor Park Gardens from its junction with The Fairway to Broadclyst Avenue.
Speed reduction from 30MPH to 20MPH on Broadclyst Avenue from its junction with Bellhouse Crescent to Moor Park Gardens.
PLEASE NOTE THESE WILL BE COMPLETED IN PHASES AND DATES FOR THESE WILL BE DISPLAYED ON SITE.
The closures are scheduled to commence from 09:30 on the 21st July 2025 until 15:30 on 3rd October 2025 or where appropriate signs are showing and weather permitting.
The alternative route for The Fairway will be via Eastwood Road North, Bellhouse Lane & Arterial Road A127 and vice versa while directional closures are in place.
Local traffic diversion will be clearly visible on site.
The Order will come into effect on 21st July 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce whilst Gas Main replacement works takes place.
Access for emergency vehicles, residents and pedestrians will be maintained at all times during the closure.
The prohibitions or restrictions will apply only during such time and to such extent as indicated by traffic signs prescribed by the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.
Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction/prohibition imposed by this Notice may be issued with a Penalty Charge Notice and removed under the provisions of the Traffic Management Act 2004.
