What is happening?
SECTION 14(1) OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council intends to make Orders to close temporarily to all traffic:
A) C87 (Part), Sopworth, Luckington and Alderton: from its junction with C68 to its junction with UC 838501 to enable Openreach to carry out pole testing works and other associated works. Alternative route via C87 (unaffected length) – B4040 – C68 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 06 August 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30 for 1 day. B) C118 (Part), Bremhill: from its junction at High Wootton Way to its junction with Foxpath 66, Calne Without for a distance of approximately 400m in a southerly direction to enable Openreach to carry out pole testing works and other associated works. C) A3102 (Part), Calne: from its junction with Sandpit Road to its roundabout junction with Oxford Road to enable Openreach to carry out carriageway reconnections works and other associated works. Alternative route via Oxford Road – Silverthorne Road – North Street and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 04 August 2025 and the closure will be required until 29 August 2025. D) Quakers Walk, Hilmarton: from its junction with Quakers Lane to its junction with Wessex Water to enable Wessex Water to carry out service renewal works and other associated works. No alternative route is available. This Order will come into operation on 29 July 2025 and the closure will be required for 2 days. E) A360 (Part), Devizes: from its junction with The Market Place to its junction with New Park Street to enable Wales & West Utilities to carry out mains replacement works and other associated works. Alternative route via A361 – A342 – A360 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 04 August 2025 and the closure will be required until 29 August 2025. F) C91 (Part), Minety: from its junction with Hornbury Hill for a distance of approximately 1.5km in a southerly direction to enable Openreach to carry out cabling works to restore customer service and other associated works. Alternative route via C91 (unaffected length) – C90 – C76 – C99 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 06 August 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30 for 1 day. G) C118 (Part), Bremhill: from its property known as Moorhill Lodge for a distance of approximately 300m in a north easterly direction to enable Openreach to carry out overhead cabling works and other associated works. This Order will come into operation on 04 August 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30 for 1 day. Alternative route via C38 – C73 – A4 – A361 – C8 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 15 July 2025 and the closure will be required for 3 days. J) Sandown Drive (Part), Chippenham: from its junction on 15 July 2025 with its junction with Hamilton Close to its junction with Avenue la Fleche to enable Wessex Water to carry out manhole and associated works. Alternative route via Sandown Drive – Langley Road – Derriads Green – Bath Road – Sandown Drive (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 15 July 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30 for 1 day. M) Aintree Drive (Part), Chippenham: from its property known as No. 06 Aintree Drive for a distance of approximately 14m in an easterly/north direction to enable Wessex Water to carry out frame and cover repair and replacement works and other associated works. No alternative route is available. This Order will come into operation on 14 July 2025 and the closure will be required for 2 days. N) Burnham Road (Part), Malmesbury: from its junction with Burnham Road to its junction with Sherston Road to enable Openreach to carry out installation of communication equipment and other associated works. Q) Longleaze (Part), Royal Wootton Bassett: from its junction with A3102 for a distance of approximately 40m in a south easterly direction to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out carriageway resurfacing works and other associated works. Alternative route via Longleaze – Stoneover Lane – Marlowe Way – A3102 and vice versa. This Order which previously came into operation on 23 June 2025 will now recommence on 14 July 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 08:00 and 16:00 until 15 August 2025. R) C67 (Part), Purton: from its junction with B4696 to its junction with B4553 to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out carriageway resurfacing and patching works. Alternative route via C67 (unaffected length) – C414 – Coped Hall – B4042 – B4696 and vice versa. This Order will previously came into operation on 31 March 2025 will now recommence on 14 July 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:00 and 15:00 until 23 July 2025. S) D28 (Part), Lydiard Millicent: from its junction with Park View Drive to its junction with The Butts to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out depression correction works on the carriageway and other associated works. Alternative route via C28 (unaffected length) – C34 – C16 – C70 – C28 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will previously came into operation on 31 March 2025 will now recommence on 14 July 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:00 and 15:00 for 1 day. T) A P) will have a maximum duration of 18 months. Orders S) to S) a maximum duration of 18 months.
The closures and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs.
It is anticipated that the works will take the stated duration to complete depending upon weather conditions. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses where possible, although delays are likely due to the nature of the works.

Phase 1: Queen Street (Part), Purton, Brinkworth and Charlton: from its junction with C76 for a distance of approximately 1.4km in a westerly direction.
Phase 2: C76 (Part), Purton: from its junction with C88 to outside its property known as Church Farm.
Phase 3: C88 (Part), Brinkworth: from its junction with Queen Street to the right of way known as Byway 61, Brinkworth.
Phase 4: Byway 61, Brinkworth: from its junction with Queen Street to its junction with C88 to enable Scottish and Southern Electric to carry out tree safety works and other associated works.
Alternative routes:
Phase 1: via Queen Street (unaffected length) – C67 – C76 and vice versa.
Phase 2: via C76 (unaffected length) – B4042 – C88 and vice versa.
Phase 3: via C88 (unaffected length) – C76 – B4042 – C88 (unaffected length) and vice versa.
Phase 4: via C88 – Queen Street and vice versa.
The closures and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs.
This Order will come into operation on 14 July 2025 and the closures will be required between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00 until 18 July 2025. Upon completion of phase 1, phase 2 will follow sequentially.
Phase 3: will come into operation on 21 July 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00 until 25 July 2025.
Phase 4: will come into operation 14 July 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00 until 25 July 2025.
It is anticipated that the works will take the stated duration to complete depending upon weather conditions. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses where possible, although delays are likely due to the nature of the works.
