TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2025

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 16A

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Northumberland County Council (“the Council”), in exercise of its powers as the local traffic authority under section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”) and all other enabling powers, has made on the 2nd July 2025 the Northumberland County Council (Hexham 10k 2025) Temporary Traffic Regulation Order 2025 (“the TTRO”).

The Council has made the TTRO for the purposes of facilitating the holding of Hexham 10k 2025 (“the Event”) by restricting traffic on the C242 Bridge End from the entrance to Beaufront Business Park to it’s junction with the U8184 Bankfoot junction to Road end for 635 metres and the C242 Corchester Lane for it’s entire length (“the Road”).

The TTRO shall come into force at 9:45 hours on the 20th July 2025 and will remain in force until 11:30 hours on 20th July 2025, subject to the provisions of section 16B of the Act.

An alternative route will be available for use whilst the TTRO is in force being via the C242, the A6079, the C239, the U8174, the U8186, the A68, the B6529 and vice versa in Hexham and as shown by a blue dashed line on the Plan. Should the need arise changes may be made to the alternative routes, where possible these changes will be signposted accordingly.

All restrictions on the Road will be sign-posted and staffed and will remain in force only for as long as is necessary.

Nothing in the TTRO shall apply to:

a. Any activities taking place on the Road related to the organisation and holding of the Event;

b. Anything done with the permission of, or at the direction of, a police officer or a Duly Authorised Officer of the Council.

c. Any vehicle being used by, or for the purposes of, the emergency services;

d. Any vehicle being used by or for the purposes of a statutory undertaker (e.g. the loss of supplies of gas, electricity or water to premises in the area, which requires vehicles to be brought onto the Road); or

e. Pedestrian access to any premises adjoining the Road.
