What is happening?

U9701 BRIARDALE ROAD COWPEN BLYTH
(TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Northumberland County Council intends to make an Order to prohibit the use by vehicular traffic on that section of the U9701 Briardale Road Cowpen Blyth from its junction with A193 Cowpen Road, Blyth heading in a south westwards direction for a length of 260 metres in the County of Northumberland.
The Order is to be effective from the 4th August 2025 until the 2nd February 2026.
It is expected that the road will only be closed from the 4th August 2025 until the 9th August 2025 between the hours of 20:00 and 06:00 during this period; however, the order will remain in place until the 2nd February 2026.
An alternative route will be available for use whilst the TTRO is in force being via the A193, U9702, U9703, U9700, U9701 and vice-versa. Should the need arise changes may be made to the alternative routes, where possible these changes will be signposted accordingly.

The closure has been requested by Northumberland County Council to resurface the carriageway. In order to minimise future disruption, other contractors may be undertaking works throughout the duration of this Order.
