What is happening?

THE PORTSMOUTH CITY COUNCIL (ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGING POINTS CITYWIDE) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF LOADING AND WAITING) (NO.110) ORDER 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Portsmouth City Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
The Order will come into operation on 14th July 2025 and the effect will be as follows:
A) TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF LOADING AND WAITING
No vehicle shall wait or stand at any time in any road or length of road in the City of Portsmouth where, at the time, vehicular parking is restricted to facilitate the installation and maintenance of electric vehicle charging points.
B) REASON FOR THE ORDER
To facilitate lining, installation and maintenance works for electric vehicle charging points.
C) DURATION OF THE ORDER
From 14th July 2025 for 18 months or completion of the works, whichever is sooner.
The works will be carried out in sections, the lengths and duration of which will be communicated by the placement of on-street signage, as required, and letters to residents prior to works taking place for each section of road(s).
D) DIVERSION ROUTE
No vehicle diversion required. Pedestrian access will be maintained around the works. On shared pathways, cyclists to dismount and follow pedestrian diversion around the works.
