What is happening?

South Gloucestershire Council

(Hatchet Road, Stoke Gifford) 
(Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles, Pedal Cycles and Equestrians) Order 2025 

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles, pedal cycles and equestrians that length of Hatchet Road which extends from its junction with Church Road northwards for 75m. 

This order was required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon cabling works on or adjacent to the highway. 

The order became operative from 15 July 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 4 nights duration, between 8pm and 5am. 

Alternative route: A4174, Rosedown Drive, Great Stoke Way, B4057 and vice versa. 

(Manor Road, Wick) (No.3) 
(Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2025 

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles the entire length of Manor Road. 

This order was required for the following reason: in connection with pole replacement works. 

The order became operative from 17 July 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of a 1 day duration, between 8am and 3:30pm. 

Alternative route: High Street, Oldbury Lane, Barrow Hill and vice versa. 

(Footpath and Cycle Path Bradley Stoke Way, Bradley Stoke) (No.2) 
(Temporary Prohibition of Use by Foot Passengers, Pedal Cycles and Equestrians) Order 2025 

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to foot passengers, pedal cycles and equestrians that length of Footpath and Cycle Path Bradley Stoke Way which extends from Webbs Wood Road to Baileys Court Road. 

This order was required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon Active Travel CRSTS works. 

The order became operative from 17 July 2025 for a maximum period of six months. 

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 4 days duration. 

Alternative routes (vice versa): Webbs Wood Road, Baileys Court Road. And Baileys Court Road, Webbs Wood Road. 

(Footpath and Cycle Path Bradley Stoke Way, Bradley Stoke) 
(Temporary Prohibition of Use by Foot Passengers and Pedal Cycles) Order 2025 

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to foot passengers and pedal cycles that length of Footpath and Cycle Path Bradley Stoke Way which extends from Webbs Wood roundabout to Savages Wood roundabout. 

This order was required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon Active Travel CRSTS works. 

The order became operative from 19 July 2025 for a maximum period of six months. 

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 6 months duration. 

Alternative routes (vice versa): Savages Wood Road, Brook Way, Baileys Court Road, Webbs Wood Road And Foot and cyclepath Bradley Stoke Way, Foot and cyclepath Bradley Stoke Way to Brook Way, Footbridge 68099 Webbs Wood, The Bluebells, Webbs Wood Road. 

(Cann Lane, North Common) 
(Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles, Foot Passengers, Pedal Cycles and Equestrians) Order 2025 

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles, foot passengers, pedal cycles and equestrians that length of Cann Lane which extends from a point 220m east of Bath Road north eastwards for 500m. 

This order is required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon new duct, cabling and splicing works on or adjacent to the highway. 

The order will be operative from 4 August 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 5 days duration. 

Alternative route: Cann Lane (parts unaffected), Homeapple Hill, London Road, Bath Road and vice versa. 

(Public Footpath KW/62/10, Kingswood) 
(Temporary Prohibition of Use by Foot Passengers) Order 2025 

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to foot passengers that length of Public Footpath KW/62/10 which extends from New Cheltenham Road southwards for 60m. 

This order is required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon sewage treatment works. 

The order will be operative from 4 August 2025 for a maximum period of six months. 

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 3 days duration. 

Alternative route: Footpath Network. 

(Mill Lane, Bitton) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2025 

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles that length of Mill Lane which extends from High Street northwards for 25m. 

This order is required for the following reason: in connection with service pipe cut off works. 

The order will be operative from 4 August 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 3 days duration. 

Alternative route: Sommerville Way. 

(Various Roads, Various Wards - Resurfacing) (No.2) 
(Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles, Foot Passengers, Pedal Cycles and Equestrians) Order 2025 

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to:- 

a) close, temporarily, to vehicles, foot passengers, pedal cycles and equestrians the lengths of road specified in Schedule 1 to this notice; and 

b) suspend, temporarily, when the signs are covered the County Council of Avon (Various Roads, Wickwar, District of Northavon) (Prohibition of Heavy Commercial Vehicles of Over 7.5 Tonnes Maximum Gross Weight) (Prohibition of Vehicles of Over 17 Tonnes Maximum Gross Weight) Order 1989 in so far as it relates to the lengths of road specified in Schedule 2 to this notice to facilitate the alternative routes for heavy vehicles. 

This order is required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon carriageway resurfacing works. 

The order will be operative from 4 August 2025 for a period of 18 months. The closures however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position.

(Over Lane, Almondsbury) (No.3) 
(Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2025 

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles that length of Over Lane which extends from Knole Park south westwards for 620m. 

This order is required for the following reason: in connection with pole testing works. 

The order will be operative from 5 August 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. 

The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of a 1 day duration, between 9:30am and 3:30pm. 

Alternative route: Over Lane, A38 Gloucester Road, Hayes Way, Merlin Road, B4055, Over Lane and vice versa. 

(Butt Lane, Morton Way And Oldbury Lane Area, Thornbury) 
(20 Mph Speed Limit) (40 Mph Speed Limit) Order 202(-) 

Details of the proposed changes 

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council proposes to make an order under sections 82(2), 83(2) and 84(1) and (2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended the effect of which will be to: 

a) prohibit the driving of motor vehicles at a speed exceeding 20 miles per hour in lengths of Barley Fields, Bells Close, Bramley Road, Bridge Hill Close, Buttercup Road, Cleve Leaze, Cleve Wood Road, Clover Ground, Clover Road, Collester Way, Colwell Close, Corn Rows, Deer Park, Epicure Road, Farmers Walk, Golden Spire, Harvest Way, Haybob Road, Hay Fields, Horse Leaze, Maize Close, Marbled White Close, Meadow Brown Close, Nelmes Close, Paddock Road, Pastoral Road, Peacock Road, Pippen Drive, Purple Emperor Road, Red Admiral Way, Rye Ground, Rustic Way, Scythe Way, Shrew Gardens, Speckled Wood Road, Squirrel Crescent, Swallowtail Close, Ten Acres Road, Thresher Close, Wild Flower Road and Withy Leaze Thornbury; and 

b) prohibit the driving of motor vehicles at a speed exceeding 40 miles per hour in lengths of Oldbury Road, Thornbury.
