Taunton, Temporary Road Closures Due To Maintenance & Resurfacing Works

What is happening?

Somerset Council Various Roads, Taunton in the Parish of West Monkton (Temporary Traffic Restrictions) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that on the 4th day of July 2025 Somerset Council made the above Order in exercise of the provisions of Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as previously advertised on the 26th day of June 2025, to introduce temporary traffic restrictions on the roads specified in the Schedules below. This Order will come into operation on the 10th day of July 2025 and will remain in force for eighteen months.

The works are to be phased, as signed on site, and expected to commence on the 14th day of July 2025 until the 8th day of August 2025 (restrictions in force 24 hours a day), to enable l-Civils Ltd to carry out resurfacing of carriageway and footpaths, weed killing, over foliage trimming and white lining works. The restrictions will only apply when indicated by traffic signs. Exemptions are provided in the Order for emergency vehicles. A copy of the draft Traffic Regulation Order and the associated plans can be examined at www.somerset.gov.uk/TRO.

A3259 Yallands Hill, Taunton - from a point 400 metres north from the junction with the A3259 Western Relief Road for a distance of 123 metres A3259 Monkton Heathfield Road, Taunton - from its junction with the A3259 Yallands Hill to its junction with Halletts Road Bawler Road, Taunton - from its junction with the A3259 Monkton Heathfield Road for a distance of 113 metres

A3259 Monkton Heathfield Road, Taunton - from its junction with Mead Way in a north easterly direction to its junction with Halletts Road

Channon Road, Taunton - from Channon Road onto the A3259 Monkton Heathfield Road

Statement of reasons for making the Order

a) because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road; b) because of the likelihood of danger to the public, or of serious damage to the road, which is not attributable to such works.
