What is happening?
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14
THE A61 TRUNK ROAD (LAYBYS FROM TANKESLEY
ROUNDABOUT TO WESTWOOD ROUNDABOUT)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited intends to make an Order on the A61 Trunk Road, in SouthYorkshire, to enable grass cutting, sign cleaning and gully works to be carried out in safety.
The works are expected to start at 9am on Tuesday 12 August 2025 for 33 weeks, or until completed.
The effect of the Order will be to close, between 9am and 8pm, at times during the works, the laybys adjacent to the A61 northbound and southbound carriageways from 280 metres west of the entry slip road at Tankesley roundabout to 620 metres east of the exit slip road at Westwood Roundabout, a distance of 1600 metres.
Traffic signs will indicate the extent of the prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or vehicles being used in connection with the said works or for winter maintenance or traffic officer purposes). The Order comes into force on 11 August 2025 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
