What is happening?

SANDWELL METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL

The Borough Council of Sandwell (Lombard Street, West Bromwich)

(Temporary Road Closure, One-Way Suspension & No Right Turn Ban) Order 2025 has made an order to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Lombard Street, which will be closed from its junction with High Street for approximately 15 metres (13/07/2025). Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. The one-way system at Lombard Street will be suspended for the duration of the Lombard Street Road closure to allow for access and egress of businesses on Lombard Street from Church Street. A no-right turn ban will be in place at Lombard Street West for the duration of the closure at Lombard Street. In addition, there will be 2-way temporary traffic signals in operation on High Street south of the junction with Lombard Street and north of the junction of Lombard Street for the duration of the Lombard Street closure. A traffic diversion route will be signed for the Lombard Street closure via High Street, Victoria Street, Price Street, West Bromwich Ringway, Bull Street, Walsall Street, Reform Street, Congregation Way, Cronehills Linkway & Bratt Street. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to commence and be completed by 13/07/2025 (24hrs). Purpose – to facilitate access for remedial works by Cadent Gas Ltd. The Borough Council of Sandwell (Lombard Street West, West Bromwich) (Footway Closure & Bay Suspension) Order 2025 has made an order to temporarily prohibit pedestrians from proceeding along Lombard Street West where the footway to the north will be closed from its junction with High Street for approximately 65 metres. A bay suspension will also be in place at Lombard Street West for bays to the north of the carriageway opposite Domain Plaza Hall. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. A pedestrian diversion route will be signed via the opposite footway. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 22/04/2026 effective from 16/07/2025 (24hrs).
