What is happening?

NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY COUNCIL

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14(1)
B6345 EAST THIRSTON TO ACKLINGTON EAST THIRSTON
(TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Northumberland County Council intends to make an Order to prohibit the use by vehicular traffic on that section of the B6345 East Thirston To Acklington from its junction with the C117 Widdrington Station Junction To The Brocks Junction for a distance of 607 metres in a north-easterly then southeasterly direction in the County of Northumberland.

The Order is to be effective from the 28th July 2025 until the 28th January 2026.

It is expected that the road will be closed from the 28th July 2025 until the 18th August 2025 between the hours of 08:00 and 16:00 during this period; however, the order will remain in place until the 28th January 2026.

The work will be carried out in weather dependant phases: Civils 28/07/2025 to 08/08/2025 and Resurfacing 11/08/2025 to 18/08/2025. An alternative route will be available for use whilst the TTRO is in force being B6345, C107, C117 and vice versa.

Should the need arise changes may be made to the alternative routes, where possible these changes will be signposted accordingly.

The closure has been requested by Northumberland County Council for carriageway resurfacing and associated works.

In order to minimise future disruption, other contractors may be undertaking works throughout the duration of this Order.

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14(1)
C124 ULGHAM LANE LONGHIRST
(TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) ORDER NO.2 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Northumberland County Council intend to make an Order to prohibit the use by vehicular traffic on that section of the C124 Ulgham Lane Longhirst from its junction with U6099 The Croft for a distance of 170 metres in a southerly direction in the County of Northumberland.

The Order is to be effective from the 4th August 2025 until the 5th September 2025.

It is expected that the road will be closed at all times from the 4th August 2025 until the 22nd August 2025 during this period; however, the order will remain in place until the 5th September 2025 An alternative route will be available for use whilst the TTRO is in force being C124, C125, B1337, C124 and vice versa.

Should the need arise changes may be made to the alternative routes, where possible these changes will be signposted accordingly.

The closure has been requested by United Living Infrastructure Services to excavate in the road to install and connect a water main. In order to minimise future disruption, other contractors may be undertaking works throughout the duration of this Order.

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14(1)
U3138 U3140 QUEEN STREET BACK LANE AMBLE
(TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Northumberland County Council intends to make an Order to prohibit the use by vehicular traffic on that section of the U3138 U3140 Queen Street Back Lane Amble from its junction with C99 heading in a south westerly direction for a length of 45 metres in the County of Northumberland.

The Order is to be effective from the 28th July 2025 until the 8th August 2025.

It is expected that the road will only be closed from the 28th July 2025 until the 1st August 2025 and that it will be closed at all times during this period; however, the order will remain in place until 8th August 2025.

There is no alternative route available

The closure has been requested by Northumbrian Water to carry out a new water connection. In order to minimise future disruption, other contractors may be undertaking works throughout the duration of this Order.

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14(1)
PARISH OF STANNINGTON PUBLIC FOOTPATH NUMBER 34
(TEMPORARY PUBLIC FOOTPATH CLOSURE) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Northumberland County Council intends to make an Order to prohibit the use of Parish of Stannington Public Footpath Number 34, in the County of Northumberland.

The route is described as follows:-

From a point 175 metres south-east of Moor Farm on the west side of the East Coast Main Line Railway in a general north-easterly and northerly direction for a distance of 130 metres, crossing the East Coast Main Line Railway to a point on the east side of the East Coast Main Line Railway, 240 metres south of Station Road, Stannington Station.

There is no alternative route.

The Order is to be effective from the 31st July 2025 until the 31st January 2026.

The closure has been requested by Network Rail in the interests of public safety to carry out urgent work to the railway embankment at the railway bridge.

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2025
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 16A

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Northumberland County Council (“the Council”), in exercise of its powers as the local traffic authority under section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”) and all other enabling powers, has made on the 25th June 2025 the Northumberland County Council (Flodden Cavalcade 2025) Temporary Traffic Regulation Order 2025 (“the TTRO”).

The Council has made the TTRO for the purposes of facilitating the holding of Flodden Cavalcade 2025 (“the Event”) by restricting traffic on the A698 County Boundary to Cornhill from it’s junction with Green Lane heading in a westerly direction for a length of 2,084 metres, the U51 Road to New Heaton Farm from it’s junction with the U2 heading in a southerly direction for a length of 908 metres, the U1109 Cookstead Farm Track from it’s junction with the A697 heading in a northerly direction for a length of 465 metres, the A697 between Milfield and Cornhill from it’s junction with the U1109 heading in a westerly direction for a length of 185 metres, the C23 County Boundary to East Learmouth from it’s point outside the Old School heading in a south westerly direction for a length of 1,959 metres, the C29 Moneylaw Covert to East Moneylaws 545 metres from it’s junction with the C30 continuing on for a further 106 metres, the C30 Thornington to East Moneylaws junction from it’s junction with the C29 Moneylaw Covert to East Moneylaws heading in a south westerly direction for a length of 973 metres, the U1001 Bowmont Water junction to Brownrigg from it’s junction with the B6352 heading in a northerly direction for a length of 811 metres, the C20 Mindrum Mill junction to Cornhill junction from it’s junction with the B6352 heading in a northerly direction for a length of 1,340 metres, the U1010 County Boundary to Willowburn junction with the U1011 heading in a north easterly direction for a length of 746 metres, the C23 County Boundary to East Learmouth 35 metres either side of it’s junction with the U1003, the U1003 Selbys Hill junction to Wark junction from it’s junction with the C23 heading in a northerly direction for 497 metres, the C20 Mindrum Mill junction to Cornhill junction from it’s junction with the A698 heading in a southerly direction for a length of 993 metres and the A698 County Boundary to Cornhill from it’s junction with Green Lane heading in a westerly direction for a length of 2,084 metres (“the Road”).

The TTRO shall come into force at 10:15 hours on the 7th August 2025 and will remain in force until 18:00 hours on the 7th August 2025, subject to the provisions of section 16B of the Act.

There will be no alternative route available for the duration of the TTRO, however the Road will be re-opened as the Event passes through. All restrictions on the Road will be sign-posted and staffed and will remain in force only for as long as is necessary. Nothing in the TTRO shall apply to:

a.   Any activities taking place on the Road related to the organisation and holding of the Event;

b.  Anything done with the permission of, or at the direction of, a police officer or a Duly Authorised Officer of the Council.

c.   Any vehicle being used by, or for the purposes of, the emergency services;

d.  Any vehicle being used by or for the purposes of a statutory undertaker (e.g. the loss of supplies of gas, electricity or water to premises in the area, which requires vehicles to be brought onto the Road); or

e.   Pedestrian access to any premises adjoining the Road.

CONSOLIDATION ORDER 2024 VARIATION ORDER 09

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Northumberland County Council, in exercise of the powers conferred under sections 1 to 4, 32, 35, 45 and 46, 61 and 64 (as appropriate) and Part IV of schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the Traffic Management Act 2004 and all other powers so enabling, have made the above-named Order.

The effect of the Order, which will come into force on the 14th July 2025 will be to vary the “Northumberland County Council (Waiting, Loading & Parking Places) (Map Based) Consolidation Order 2024” by introducing the following parking restrictions.

1)  There will be no waiting at any time on sections of Abbots Way, Challoners Gardens, Pinewood Drive and Woodhill Drive in Morpeth

2)  There will be no waiting Monday-Friday between the hours of 8am-4pm on Morpeth Rugby Club Car Park Access in Morpeth

3)  There will be no waiting Monday-Friday between the hours of 8-9:30am & 2:30-4pm on Abbots Way in Morpeth

In addition, the following variations to parking restrictions on Bridge Street in Morpeth: will also apply:

4)  The existing taxi rank will now apply at all times

5)  There will be a limited waiting parking place between the hours of 8am-6pm, 30 minutes maximum stay, no return within 1 hour to replace the shared limited waiting parking place between the hours of 8am-7pm, 30 minutes maximum stay, no return within 1 hour and taxi rank between the hours of 8am-7pm.

The restrictions can also be viewed in map format, as the maps form part of the map-based schedule to the Order. If you wish to question the validity of the Order or any of the provisions contained therein on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or that any of the relevant requirements thereof or of any relevant regulations made thereunder have not been complied with in relation to the Order you may within 6 weeks from the date on which the Order was made apply to the High Court for that purpose.
