Main Road - Temporary Prohibition Of Through Traffic
What is happening?
LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(A588 MAIN ROAD, THURNHAM, LANCASTER CITY)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council intend to make an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle or cycle to proceed over that length of A588 Main Road Thurnham for a distance of approximately 5 metres either side of the private entrance to property known as Throstle Croft.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative from 0800 hours on Monday 21st July 2025 until 1700 hours on Wednesday 23rd July 2025 or until completion of the works within this period.
4. Pedestrian access to properties will always be maintained.
5. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is via:-
A588 Main Road – A588 Lancaster Road – A588 Ashton Road – A6 Greaves Road – A6 Scotforth Road – A6 Preston Lancaster Road – A6 Main Road – A6 Lancaster Road – A6 Lancaster New Road – B5272 Cockerham Road – B5272 Park Road – B5272 Garstang Road – A588 Main Street – A588 Lancaster Road – A588 Main Road and vice versa.
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow Network Plus to Install 1 x long 25mm water connection to the 8" main on behalf of United Utilites.
