What is happening?

(Temporary Road Closure)
Order 2025

The Council on 2/7/2025 made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding on the following length of road. A 428 metre length of A179, Sheraton from the A19 Northbound slip road junction to the access road leading to Elwick Stud Sheraton Farm to enable carriageway resurfacing works to be undertaken. Throughout the period of the closure a diversion will be available to vehicular traffic from west side of closure, in a northerly direction on A19 Northbound to A19/B1320 interchange, then east on B1230 Burnhope Way/Surtees Road/Yoden Way, then south east on A1086 Coast Road to Hartlepool, then west on A179 Hart Road to eastern end of closure and vice versa . The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months. The proposed works are to commence on Monday 14/7/2025 and are anticipated to be completed in 7 nights, between 8pm-6am. On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
