Norfolk - Proposed Speed Limit Reduction from 60mph to 50mph
What is happening?
THE NORFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL
(ACLE, WALSOKEN AND WEST WALTON VARIOUS ROADS)
SPEED LIMIT ORDERS 2025
The Norfolk County Council propose to make the following Orders under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984:
The Norfolk County Council (Walsoken and West Walton Various Roads) (50 mph Speed Limit) Consolidation and Variation Order 2025
The effect of this Order will be to:
1. Consolidate The Norfolk County Council (Walsoken and West Walton) (50 m.p.h Speed Limit) Order 2007 (“the 2007 Order”) and The Norfolk County Council (Walsoken, Various Roads) (50 m.p.h Speed Limit) Order 2009; and
2. Vary the 2007 Order by removing the existing the reference to the B198 Lynn Road and prohibiting any motor vehicle from exceeding 50 miles per hour along the following length of road:
B198 Lynn Road | From a point 37 metres south-west of the centreline of its junction with the U21104 Grassgate Lane (southern end) north-eastwards to its junction with the A47. |
Orders are proposed to be consolidated for clarity and efficient administration of the restrictions. As part of the consolidation the existing 50 mph orders are being updated to reflect current legislation, or are being clarified to make them clearer, or are being amended to correct minor errors. The reference of ‘vehicles’ is being updated to ‘motor vehicles’ to reflect current legislation.
The Norfolk County Council (Acle, New Road)
(50 mph Speed Limit) Order 2025
The effect of this Order will be to prohibit any motor vehicle from exceeding 50 miles per hour along the length of road specified in the Schedule below:
C875 New Road | From a point 40 metres eastwards from the centreline of its junction with the U51360 Springfield, eastwards for a distance of 38 metres to the A1064 Acle roundabout. |
A copy of the draft Orders, plans, Statement of Reasons and the Orders being amended can be viewed online at www.norfolk.citizenspace.com. Copies are also available for inspection at Norfolk County Council, County Hall, Norwich, NR1 2DH and at the offices of Broadland District Council, The Horizon Centre, Peachman Way, Broadland Business Park, Norwich NR7 0WF and Borough Council of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk King’s Court, Chapel St, King’s Lynn PE30 1EX during normal office hours. Online viewing is recommended.
Any objections and representations relating to the Orders must be made in writing and must specify the grounds on which they are made. All correspondence for these proposals must be received at the office of nplaw, Norfolk County Council, County Hall, Martineau Lane, Norwich, NR1 2DH, marked for the attention of the nplaw Traffic Regulation Order Team by 29th July 2025.
