Orkney Drive - Temporary Traffic Regulation
What is happening?
THE CITY OF SUNDERLAND (ORKNEY DRIVE) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2025
Sunderland City Council gives notice that it intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which is to temporarily prohibit all vehicle, cycle, horse and pedestrian traffic from the sections of carriageways and footways described in the schedules below. The Order is required to facilitate gas main works. The order will come into force on 18th August 2025. The maximum duration of the closure under the Order will be eighteen months. However, the works are expected to be completed within 22 days. All vehicles, horses, cyclists and pedestrians will be prohibited from the sections of carriageway described in schedule 1 and all pedestrians will be prohibited from the section of footways described in schedule 2 (except for personnel involved in the works), until the works are completed or at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. An alternative route will be provided via the adjacent highways network.
Schedule 1: Orkney Drive from its southern junction with Hollycarrside Road to its junction with Gairsay Close. Schedule 2: The southern section of Orkney Drive from its junction with Hollycarrside Road to the extended north-western property boundary of 35 Orkney Drive.
