TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDERS 2025 (NORWICH)

Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984

Norfolk County Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, hereby give notice that:

i) THEY PROPOSE TO MAKE Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in respect of the following roads:

ALBERT PLACE TO QUEBEC ROAD FOOTPATH – from its junction with Quebec Road for 70m westwards to facilitate footway reconstruction works from 14th July to 31st August 2025 (may continue until 13th January 2026). Alternative route is via: Quebec Road, Telegraph Lane West. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.

ALEXANDRA ROAD – from 1m south of its junction with Dereham Road for 50m southwards to facilitate communication pipe repair works from 16th to 18th July 2025 (may continue until 29th August 2025). Alternative route is via: Northbound – Alexandra Road, Stafford Street, Heigham Road, Dereham Road; Southbound – Dereham Road, Heigham Road, Stafford Street, Alexandra Road. The works promoter is Anglian Water.

BARRACK STREET – from its junction with Silver Road to its junction with Anchor Close to facilitate accommodation works as part of a development from 14th to 20th July 2025 (may continue until 31st August 2025). Alternative route is via: Barrack Street, Ketts Hill, Plumstead Road, Heartsease Lane, Mousehold Lane, Sprowston Road, Magdalen Road, Bull Close Road, Charlton Road and vice versa. The works promoter is The Hill Group.

MOUSEHOLD STREET AND HASSETT CLOSE

  1. Hassett Close from its junction with Mousehold Street for 38m north westwards and

  2. Mousehold Street from 80m east of its junction with Hassett Close to 38m south of its junction with Hassett Close and

  3. Mousehold Street from 100m west of its junction with Heathgate for 100m westwards to facilitate gas main replacement works, traffic (constituting any class of vehicle) over the Roads 1-3 shall be temporarily prohibited to park, stop, load, and/or unload from 14th July to 18th August 2025 (may continue until 8th February 2026). Alternative route is via: N/A. The works promoter is Cadent.

    NB: Roads 1 and 2 will be restricted from 14th to 30th July. Road 3 will be restricted from 31st July to 18th August.

    QUEBEC ROAD, ST LEONARDS ROAD & WOLFE ROAD

    1. Quebec Road from its junction with Ketts Hill to its junction with Telegraph Lane and

    2. St Leonards Road from its junction with Quebec Road for 50m westwards and

    3. St Leonards Road (eastbound lane only) from its junction with Quebec Road for 20m westwards and

    4. Wolfe Road from its junction with Quebec Road for 35m eastwards to facilitate footway reconstruction works. The Roads 1), 2) and 4) will be temporarily closed and traffic over the Roads 1), 3) and 4) shall be temporarily prohibited to park, stop, load, and/or unload from 14th July to 31st August 2025 (may continue until 28th February 2026). Alternative route will be displayed by signs on site. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.

    ii) THEY HAVE MADE Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in respect of the following roads:

    MARL PIT LANE & LARKMAN LANE

    1. Marl Pit Lane (southbound only) from its junction with Jex Road to its junction with Dereham Road and

    2. Larkman Lane (southbound only) from its junction with Dereham Road for 40m southwards to facilitate gas main upgrade works from 7th to 18th July 2025 (may continue until 29th August 2025). Alternative route is via:

    3. Marl Pit Lane, Hellesdon Road, Dereham Road (A1074), Dereham Road/ Sweet Briar Road Roundabout.

    4. Dereham Road (A1074), Dereham Road/ Wensum Roundabout, Dereham Road/ Sweet Briar Road Roundabout, Guardian Road (A140), Bowthorpe Road and Earlham Green Lane.

      The works promoter is Cadent.

    TUCKSWOOD LANE & SCARLET ROAD

    1. Tuckswood Lane from its junction with Hall Road for 340m north westwards and

    2. Scarlet Road from its junction with Tuckswood Lane to its junction with Greenwood Road to facilitate footway reconstruction works, the Roads 1) and 2) will be temporarily closed and traffic shall be temporarily prohibited to park, stop, load, and/or unload from 7th July to 1st September 2025 (may continue until 1st March 2026). Alternative route is via: Hall Road, Cecil Road, Notley Road, Sandy Lane, Tuckswood Lane and vice versa.

      The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.

      WATERLOO ROAD – from its junction with Albany Road to its junction with Traverse Street to facilitate new connection works from 7th to 11th July 2025 (may continue until 22nd August 2025). Alternative route is via: Northbound – Waterloo Road, Magpie Road, Magdalen Road Southbound – Magdalen Road, Magpie Road, Edward Street, St Augustine Street and Waterloo Road. The works promoter is Cadent.

      Unless otherwise stated, the effect of these Orders will be to prohibit the use by vehicles of the named road(s)/footpath(s). In the event of the start date being delayed the new start date will be displayed on site in advance. Where an Order is for a reason other than works it is because of the likelihood of danger to the public or of serious damage to the road/footpath. Anticipated dates are stated but the Orders may continue until the end date where necessary or required. The Orders are revoked on the end date or on the actual date of removal of the prohibition/restriction where earlier without further notice. If necessary, the restrictions can have a maximum duration of 18 months or 6 months in respect of footpaths, cycle paths, bridleways, restricted byways, and byways open to all traffic (BOAT).

      Penalty: £1000 maximum fine on conviction and/or endorsement for contravention.
