What is happening?

Leicester City Council (Highway Network, Leicester) (Consolidation of Moving Traffic Prohibitions, Restrictions and Provisions) (No.1) Consolidation Order 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Leicester City Council HAS MADE this Order under Sections 1, 2, 4, 5 and 122 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”), and by the virtue of as amended, the effect of which is to revoke the provisions of various existing Traffic Regulation Orders affecting parts of roads within the City of Leicester and to re-enact those provisions in a Consolidation Order:- 

THE ORDER WILL COME INTO FORCE ON THE 28th DAY OF JULY 2025.

Orders to be revokes and re-enacted into the new Consolidation Order are listed in the Schedule to this Notice.

SCHEDULE

Any amendments or standalone Traffic Regulation Orders (not listed) made prior to this Order, insofar as they relate to both articles and moving prohibitions and restrictions on the lengths of roads listed in the Schedules 2 in the new Consolidation Order are hereby revoked. 

This excludes all Speed Orders.

The new Consolidation Order is undertaken as an administrative exercise to reduce the number of has made Orders and allowing a switch to a new Digital Traffic Regulation Order using map based schedules in line with future DFT requirements for digital data.

A COPY of the Order, the relevant plan, the Council’s statement of reasons for making the Order and extract copies of the Order being amended may be seen during normal opening hours at Leicester City Council, Customer Service Centre, 91 Granby Street, Leicester, LE1 6FB. 

If you wish to question the validity of the Order (which was made on 02nd of July 2025) or of any provisions contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act, or of any instrument made under it has not been complied with in relation to the Order, you may, within six weeks from the 02nd of July 2025 apply to the High Court for this purpose.
