What is happening?

TEMPORARY CLOSING OF FOOTPATH HITCHIN 91

NOTICE is given that the Hertfordshire County Council have made an Order under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit pedestrians from using that length of Footpath Hitchin 91, heading south from Purwell Lane, for an approximate distance of 100m.

Alternative route: via Purwell Lane, Chaucer Way and Hitchin 80.

The purpose of the Order is to enable maintenance works to take place.

The section of Footpath will be closed on or after 07 July 2025 for up to 4 days, when signs are in place.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN NORTON ROAD, STEVENAGE) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all traffic from using that length of Norton Road, Stevenage from its junction with A1070 Six Hills Way south eastwards to its junction with Norton Green Road, a distance of approximately 67m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via A1070 Six Hills Way, A1072 Gunnels Wood Road and Norton Green Road.

ADDITIONALLY all vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of the Road whilst works are in progress.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 21 July 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF HIGHBURY ROAD, HITCHIN) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of road (“the lengths of Road”):—

  1. that length of Highbury Road, Hitchin from its junction with Wymondley Road south westwards to its junction with Whitehill Road, a distance of approximately 125m.

    An alternative route will be via Wymondley Road, Ninesprings Way, Oakfield Avenue and Whitehill Road.

  2. that length of Highbury Road, Hitchin from its junction with Wymondley Road north eastwards and north westwards to its junction with the B656 Walsworth Road/Verulam Road roundabout, a distance of approximately 514m.

    An alternative route will be via Highbury Road, Whitehill Road, Hollow Lane and B656 Walsworth Road

    or via B656 (Walsworth Road/Queen Street/Park Street/Hitchin Hill), A602 Stevenage Road, Whitehill Road and Hollow Lane.

    The Order is needed because the replacement of existing gas mains is proposed to be executed on or near the lengths of Road.

    If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 23 July 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the lengths of Road.

    (TEMPORARY CLOSING OF GRAVELEY LANE, GRAVELEY) ORDER 2025

    NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Graveley Lane, Graveley from its junction with B197 High Street north westwards and south westwards to its junction with Priory Lane, a distance of approximately 1419m (“the Road”), except for access.

    An alternative route will be via B197 (High Street/Graveley Road), Stevenage Road and Priory Lane.

    The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

    The Order has been made and shall come into force on 7 July 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

    (TEMPORARY CLOSING OF HIGH STREET AND MARKET PLACE, HITCHIN) ORDER 2025

    NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”):—

    1. that length of High Street, Hitchin from its junction with Bancroft south westwards to its junction with Market Place, a distance of approximately 130m.

      An alternative route will be via Bancroft, Brand Street, A505 Paynes Park, A602 Park Way, B656 (Hitchin Hill/Park Street), Bridge Street, Tilehouse Street and Bucklersbury.

    2. that length of Market Place, Hitchin from its junction with High Street south eastwards and south westwards for a distance of approximately 71m.

      (TEMPORARY CLOSING OF HIGH STREET AND MARKET PLACE, HITCHIN) ORDER 2025

      An alternative route will be via High Street, Bancroft, Brand Street, A505 Paynes Park, A602 Park Way, B656 (Hitchin Hill/Park Street), Bridge Street, Tilehouse Street and Bucklersbury.

      The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

      The Order has been made and shall come into force on 9 July 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

      (TEMPORARY CLOSING OF HILLSHOTT, LETCHWORTH GARDEN CITY) ORDER 2025

      NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Hillshott, Letchworth Garden City from its junction with Rushby Mead south westwards for a distance of approximately 40m (“the Road”), except for access.

      An alternative route will be via Hillshott, Ridge Avenue, Pimore Way, Norton Way South and Hillshott.

      The Order is needed because the replacement of an existing utility pole is proposed to be executed near the Road.

      The Order has been made and shall come into force on 7 July 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

      (TEMPORARY CLOSING OF HITCHIN ROAD, PIRTON) ORDER 2025

      NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Hitchin Road, Pirton from its junction with Walnut Tree Road south eastwards for a distance of approximately 20m (“the Road”), except for access.

      An alternative route will be via Hitchin Road, Priors Hill, Shillington Road, West Lane, Holwell Road, Waterloo Lane, Pirton Road, Holwell Road, A600 Bedford Road, A505 (Bedford Road/Paynes Park/Upper Tilehouse Street), B655 Pirton Road and Hitchin Road

      or via Hitchin Road, B655 Pirton Road, A505 (Upper Tilehouse Street/Old Park Road/Bedford Road), A600 Bedford Road, Holwell Road, Pirton Road, Waterloo Lane, Holwell Road, West Lane, Shillington Road, Priors Hill and Hitchin Road.

      The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

      The Order has been made and shall come into force on 9 July 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

      (TEMPORARY CLOSING OF HIGH STREET, HINXWORTH) ORDER 2025

      NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of High Street, Hinxworth from its junction with Homefield south eastwards for a distance of approximately 30m (“the Road”), except for access.

      An alternative route will be via High Street, Edworth (unnamed road), Edworth Road, A1 (unnamed road/London Road), A507 Great North Road, Newnham Road, Ashwell Road, Hinxworth Road, Ashwell Road and High Street.

      The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

      The Order has been made and shall come into force on 9 July 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.
