What is happening?

Highways

Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.

 

SWALE AREA

 

A251 Ashford Road, Sheldwich & Plumford Lane, Throwley. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JULY 2025

To allow cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of A251 Ashford Road, Sheldwich & Plumford Lane, Throwley, from 21:00 hours on 17th July 2025, with estimated completion by 05:00 hours on 18th July 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The roads will be closed at the junctions where they meet, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic northbound is via A251 Faversham Road, A252 Canterbury Road, Maidstone Road, A28 Canterbury Road, Ashford Road, Thanington Road, A2 Canterbury/Boughton Bypass, Brenley Corner Roundabout, A2 London Road, Canterbury Road and A251 Ashford Road.

The alternative route for any through traffic southbound is via A251 Ashford Road, A2 Canterbury Road, London Road, Brenley Corner Roundabout, Canterbury/Boughton Bypass, A2050 Harbledown Bypass, Rheims Way, St Peters Roundabout, Rheims Way, A28 Wincheap Green, Wincheap, Thanington Road, Ashford Road, Canterbury Road, A252 Maidstone Road, Canterbury Road and A251 Ashford Road.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Bottom Pond Road, Milstead, ME9 0TJ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JULY 2025

To allow pole testing works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Bottom Pond Road, Milstead, from 31st July 2025, for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between the junctions of Gossy Hill Road and Bexon Lane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route is via Horn Hill, Rawling Street, Frinsted Road, Milstead, Torry Hill Road, The Street, Gossy Hill Road, Bottom Pond Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Broad Street, Sheerness, ME12 1EF (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JULY 2025

To allow reinstatement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Broad Street, Sheerness, from 28th July 2025, with estimated completion by 29th July 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed from the junction with Hope Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Broad Street, Railway Road, Rose Street and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Burley Road, Sittingbourne, ME10 1JX (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JULY 2025

To allow new service connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Burley Road, Sittingbourne, from 17th July 2025, with estimated completion by 25th July 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of number 63, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Epps Road, Rock Road, A2 London Road, Burley Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Church Road, Tonge, ME9 9AW (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JULY 2025

To allow bridge examination works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Church Road, Tonge, from 22:00 hours on 16th July 2025, with estimated completion by 06:00 hours on 17th July 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed 20m either side of the rail bridge, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Hempstead Lane, A2 The Street, A2 Fox Hill, A2 Canterbury Road, Murston Road, Church Road, Tonge Road, Lomas Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Deans Hill Road, Bredgar, ME9 8ET (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JULY 2025

To allow pole testing and tree cutting works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Deans Hill Road, Bredgar, from 18th July 2025, for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of The Firs, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Deans Hill, Stiff Street, Vigo Lane, Pond Farm Road, Sutton Baron Road, Wrens Road, Manns Place, Silver Street and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Iwade Road, Newington. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JULY 2025

To allow water leak repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Iwade Road, Newington, from 28th July 2025, with estimated completion by 30th July 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of Happy Pants Ranch, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Iwade Road, Church Lane, A2 High Street, A2 Boyces Hill, A2 Keycol Hill, Key Street Roundabout, Sheppey Way, Stickfast Lane and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Manns Place, Bredgar, ME9 8AN (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JULY 2025

To allow pole testing works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Manns Place, Bredgar, from 17th July 2025, for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of Manns Place Farm, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Manns Place, Gore Road, Primrose Lane, Bredgar Road, Hearts Delight Road, Wrens Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Meresborough Lane, Hartlip, ME9 7TS (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JULY 2025

To allow water mains repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Meresborough Lane, Hartlip, from 14th July 2025, with estimated completion by 18th July 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed from the junction with Spade Lane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via South Bush Lane, A2 London Road, Mill Lane, Dane Lane and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Mill Lane, Hartlip. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JULY 2025

To allow pole replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on Mill Lane, Hartlip, from 18th July 2025, with estimated completion by 21st July 2025, between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in its entirety, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via A2 Hartlip Hill, Lower Hartlip Road, Munns Lane and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Staplestreet Road, Hernhill, ME13 9TX (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JULY 2025

To allow pole replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Staplestreet Road, Hernhill, from 15th July 2025, with estimated completion by 16th July 2025, between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between the junction with Bounds Lane and Mount Ephraim Bungalow, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Staple Street, Butts Hill, Bull Lane, The Street, Staplestreet Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Terrace Road & Harold Road, Sittingbourne. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JULY 2025

To allow water pipe repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Terrace Road, Sittingbourne, from 29th July 2025, with estimated completion by 31st July 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of number 20, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Murston Road, Shortlands Road, Harold Road and Terrace Road.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

The One-Way Order on Harold Road will be suspended for the duration of the works. This will be imposed from the junction with Terrace Road to number 18 Harold Road, to allow access for residents.

 

Three Horseshoes Annual Wheelie Bin Event, Staplestreet Road, Hernhill ME13 9TY (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JULY 2025

To allow the annual wheelie bin event to take place, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Staplestreet Road, Hernhill, from 19th July 2025, for up to one day, between the hours of 10:00 and 20:00, or until the event is complete.

The road will be closed between the Three Horseshoes Public House and the entrance for Mount Ephraim Gardens, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Staplestreet Road, The Street, Bull Lane, Staple Street and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Wrens Road, Borden, ME9 8AL (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JULY 2025

To allow installation works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Wrens Road, Borden, from 31st July 2025, with estimated completion by 4th August 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between number 2 Wren Cottages and Oast House, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Wrens Road, Hearts Delight Road, Doves Croft, Bredgar Road, Primrose Lane, Gore Road, Manns Place, Wrens Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
