Essex - Multiple Traffic Notices, Temporary Road Closures due to Utility and Cabling Works
What is happening?

(Bicknacre Road, Bicknacre)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Bicknacre Road, Bicknacre in the City of Chelmsford, from its junction with Moor Hall Lane for a distance of approximately 95m in a north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 29th July 2025 for 4 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EC30061716080 – UK Power Networks). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by UK Power Networks.
An alternative route is available via Bicknacre Road, B1418, A414, Mayes Lane, Penny Royal Road, The Common and vice versa
The Order will come into effect on 10th July 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Church Road, North Fambridge)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Church Road, North Fambridge in the District of Maldon, from a point approximately 30m south west of its junction with Ferry Road for a distance of approximately 30m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 28th July 2025 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (BC0080GEAA0588177RCSB – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while service connection works are undertaken by Openreach.
No alternative route is available.
The Order will come into effect on 10th July 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Pump Lane, Purleigh)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Pump Lane, Purleigh in the District of Maldon, from its junction with Barons Lane for a distance of approximately 160m in a south westerly then south easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 30th July 2025 for 7 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC411SA001WFRG9P2R – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while ducting / spine cabling works are undertaken by Openreach.
An alternative route is available via Church Hill, The Street, Roundbush Road, Fambridge Road, Barons Lane and vice versa (with access only into Pump Lane).
The Order will come into effect on 10th July 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Burnham Road, Althorne)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Burnham Road, Althorne in the District of Maldon, from a point approximately 40m south east of its junction with The Endway for a distance of approximately 500m in a southerly then easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 15th July 2025 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (BC008PLT2488773423032024 – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole testing works are undertaken by Openreach.
An alternative route is available via B1010, B1021, B1018, B1010 and vice versa.
The Order came into effect on 26th June 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
