EXPERIMENTAL TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2025
Notice is hereby given by the Council of the City of Sunderland that on 2nd July 2025 it made an Order under Sections 1, 9, and 10 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”), and of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance in Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act and with the persons and organisations specified in the Local Authorities Traffic Orders (Procedure) (England and Wales) Regulations 1996. The effect on an experimental basis will be to prohibit loading/unloading at any time along Durham Road, Sunderland, the west side from a point 33.0 metres north of the extended party property boundary of 3 & 4 Eden Terrace, for a distance of 12.0 metres in a northerly direction. The Order will come into force on 18th July 2025 and shall cease to have effect 18 months after the date on which it comes into force, which is 19th January 2027. . The Council will be considering in due course whether the provisions of the Experimental Order should be continued in force indefinitely. Within a period of 6 months beginning with the day the Order came into force, or if the Order is varied by another order or modified pursuant to Section 10(2) of the Act, beginning with the day on which the variation or modification or the latest variation or modification came into force, any person may object or make representations to the making of an Order for the purpose of such indefinite continuation. Any objection must be made in writing and must state the grounds on which it is made. If any person wishes to question the validity of the Order or of any of its provisions on the grounds that it or they are not within the powers conferred by the Act or that any requirement of the Act or of any instrument made under the Act has not been complied with that person may within six weeks from the date on which the Order was made apply for the purpose to the High Court.
