Canberra Road, Crawford Avenue And Broadway - Temporary Prohibition Of Through Traffic
What is happening?
LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(CANBERRA ROAD, CRAWFORD AVENUE AND BROADWAY, LEYLAND, SOUTH RIBBLE BOROUGH)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council intend to make an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle over the following lengths of highway;
i. Canberra Road, Leyland (northbound) only from its junction with Nelson Avenue to its junction with B5256 Turpin Green Lane.
ii. Crawford Avenue, Leyland from its junction with Canberra Road for a distance of 35 metres in a easterly direction.
iii. Broadway, Leyland from its junction with Canberra Road for a distance of 25 metres in a westerly direction.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibitions will be operative on the specified times and dates below
i. Canberra Road, Leyland from 0800 hours on Monday 18th August 2025 until 1700 hours on Tuesday 2nd September 2025.
ii. Crawford Avenue, Leyland from 0800 hours on Monday 21st July 2025 to 1700 hours on Sunday 3rd August 2025.
iii. Broadway, Leyland from 0800 hours on Monday 4th August 2025 until 1700 hours on Friday 15th August 2025.
Access for emergency services will be maintained via the signed diversion route due to the nature of the works
4. Vehicular access for residents will be maintained whenever and wherever possible. Pedestrian access to properties will always be maintained.
5. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is via:-
Canberra Road
Canberra Road – B5248 Church Road – Bent Lane – B5256 Turpin Green Lane
Crawford Avenue
Crawford Avenue – Denford Avenue – Canberra Road and vice versa
Boadway
Broadway – Balcarres Road – Crawford Avenue – Canberra Road and vice versa
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow gas mains replacement works to be carried out.
