Warwickshire, A46 Trunk Road Budbrooke to Kenilworth - Temporary Traffic Restrictions.

What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 -

SECTIONS 14(1)(A) AND (7)

THE A46 TRUNK ROAD (BUDBROOKE TO KENILWORTH) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION

AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (Company no. 9346363) intends to make an Order on the A46 Trunk Road, in the County of Warwickshire, to enable bridge repairs and resurfacing works to be carried out.

The effect of the Order, will be to –

(1)  impose a speed restriction of 60 miles per hour on –

(a)  the northbound carriageway of the A46 between points 1000 metres south and 700 metres north of the centrepoint of its roundabout junction with the B4115, Warwick Road, Coventry Road and the slip roads leading to and from the A46, at Leek Wootton (the first roundabout); and

(b)  the southbound carriageway of the A46 between points1100 metres north and 700 metres south of the centre point of the first roundabout;

(2)  close –

(a)  the northbound carriageway of the A46 from its junction with the exit slip road leading to its roundabout junction with the A425 and the A4177, at Warwick (the second roundabout), to its junction with

the entry slip road leading from the first roundabout; and

(b)  the southbound carriageway of the A46 from its junction with the exit slip road leading to its roundabout junction with the A452, at Kenilworth (the third roundabout), to its junction with the entry slip road leading from the first roundabout;

(c)  the entry slip road leading to the southbound carriageway of the A46 from the third roundabout;

(d)  the exit slip road leading from the southbound carriageway of the A46 to

the first roundabout;

(e)  the entry slip road leading to the northbound carriageway of the A46 from its junction with the second roundabout; and

(f)  the exit slip road leading from the northbound carriageway of the A46 to the first roundabout;

(3)  prohibit any vehicle with an overall width exceeding 3.3 metres to enter or proceed in lane 1 or any vehicle with an overall width exceeding 2.8 metres to enter or proceed in lane 2 of –

(a)  the northbound carriageway of the A46 from its junction with the exit slip road leading to the first roundabout, to its junction with the entry slip road leading from that roundabout; or

(b)  the southbound carriageway of the A46 from its junction with the exit slip road leading to the first roundabout, to its junction with the link road leading from Coventry Road.

The work is expected to start at 20:00 hours on Tuesday 29th July 2025 and continue for approximately three months. During this period there will be some full weekend closures.  The Order will come into force on 22 July 2025.

The diversion route for motorway traffic via the A45, the M42 Junction 6, the M40 Junction 15 and the diversion route for non-motorway traffic via the A452, the A4177, the B4439 and the A4189 will be signed.

Vehicles being used for police, fire and rescue authority or ambulance purposes will be exempt from the speed restriction, closures and width restriction. Vehicles being used for special forces purposes will be exempt from the speed restriction, and vehicles being used in connection with the works or for winter maintenance purposes will be exempt from the closures and width restrictions.
