ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 –

SECTION 14(1)

A1068 CHOPPINGTON ROAD,

BEDLINGTON AND A1068

CHOPPINGTON ROAD, CHOPPINGTON

(TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Northumberland County Council intends to make an Order to prohibit the use by vehicular traffic on the following sections of the A1068 Choppington Road, in the County of Northumberland:

•  A1068  Choppington Road, Bedlington from its junction with Ewart Drive heading northwards for a distance of 95 metres.

•  A1068 Choppington Road, Choppington from its  junction with Wansbeck Bridleway 072 heading southwards for a distance of 510 metres.

The Order is to be effective from the 20th July 2025 until the 31st August 2025. It is expected that the roads will only be closed from the 20th July 2025 until the 8th August 2025 between the hours of 23:00 and 06:00 during this period; however, the order will remain in place until 31st August 2025

An alternative route will be available for use whilst the TTRO is in force being via the A1068, A193, B1331, A189, A1147, A196 and vice versa.

Should the need arise changes may be made to the alternative routes, where possible these changes will be signposted accordingly.

The closure has been requested by Balfour Beatty on behalf of Northern Powergrid to install underground cables as part of the wayleaves overhead line diversion. In order to minimise future disruption, other contractors may be undertaking works throughout the duration of this Order.
