Broad Chare And Cox Chare - Prohibition All Vehicular Traffic For Works
What is happening?
CITY OF NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE
(BROAD CHARE AND COX CHARE) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2025
1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on 26 June 2025 the Council of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne made an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding on
i. Cox Chare, between its junctions with Quayside and Pandon.
ii. Broad Chare, from its junction with Quayside in a Northwest direction for distance of 65 metres.
2. The alternative route for traffic will be signed on site as required.
3. The order is required to allow works to be carried out on or near the highway.
4. Exemptions will be provided for vehicles engaged in the works and police, fire brigade and ambulance vehicles on emergency call.
5. The Order will come into operation on 15 July 2025 and will continue, as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed, up to 16 July 2025 or until the proposed works are completed, whichever is the earlier.
