A19 Trunk Road (Three Tun Bridge & Seaton Interchange to Cold Hesledon Interchange) - Temporary Closures
What is happening?
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14
THE A19 TRUNK ROAD (THREE TUN BRIDGE) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited intends to make an Order on the A19 Trunk Road, in County of North Yorkshire, to enable bridge painting works to be carried out in safety.
The works are expected to start on Monday 28th July for 1 month, or until completed.
The effect of the order will be, between 8pm and 6 am, at times during the works, to :
(i) close the A19 northbound carriageway from the exit slip road at South Kilvington Interchange to the entry slip road at Osmotherlry Interchange, a distance of 13300 metres;
(ii) close the A19 northbound exit slip road at Osmotherlry Interchange;
(iii) close the A19 northbound entry slip roads at South Kilvington Interchange;
(iv) close the A19 northbound entry slip road at Borrowby Village;
(v) close the gaps in the central reservation within the length of carriageway as described in (i);
(vi) ban vehicles from entering or leaving the northbound carriageway at the above as mentioned in (i).
It will also be necessary, for 24 hours a day, at times during the works, to:
(vii)close all laybys adjacent to the A19 northbound carriageway within the length of carriageway as described in (i).
During the closures suitably signed alternative routes will be available at all times.
Traffic management will be in force 24 hours a day and traffic signs will indicate the extent of the restrictions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or special forces vehicles) and prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or vehicles being used in connection with the said works or for winter maintenance or traffic officer purposes). The Order comes into force on 27 July 2025 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.

THE A19 TRUNK ROAD (SEATON INTERCHANGE TO COLD HESLEDON INTERCHANGE)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited intends to make an Order on the A19 Trunk Road, in County Durham, to enable bridge painting works to be carried out in safety.
The works are expected to start on Monday 28 July 2025 for 6 weeks, or until completed.
The effect of the Order will be to close, between 8pm and 6am, at times during the works, the A19:
(i) southbound carriageway from the exit slip road at Seaton Interchange to the entry slip road at Cold Hesledon Interchange, a distance of 4100 metres;
(ii) northbound carriageway from the exit slip road at Cold Hesledon to the entry slip road at Murton Interchange, a distance of 1060 metres;
(iii) southbound entry slip road at Ryhope Interchange; and
(iv) southbound exit slip road at Cold Hesledon Interchange.
During the closures, suitably signed alternative routes will be available.
It will also be necessary to close, 24 hours a day, at times during the works, the laybys adjacent to the A19 southbound carriageway approximately 1095 metres, 1895 metres and 2745 metres south of Seaton Interchange overbridge.
Traffic signs will indicate the extent of the prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or vehicles being used in connection with the said works or for winter maintenance or traffic officer purposes). The Order comes into force on 27 July 2025 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
