Western Road - Temporary Road Closure
What is happening?

Portsmouth City Council (Western Road) (Temporary Road Closure) (Temporary Prohibition of Loading and Waiting) (No.116) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that Portsmouth City Council intends to make the above Order under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991.
The Order comes into operation from 17th July 2025 and the effect will be as follows:
A) TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE AND PROHIBITION OF LOADING AND WAITING
WESTERN ROAD (EASTBOUND)
From its junction with Southampton Road to its junction with the gyratory and Northarbour Road.
SOUTHAMPTON ROAD (SOUTHBOUND)
Offslip to Western Road.
B) REASON FOR THE ORDER
To facilitate resurfacing works.
C) DURATION OF THE ORDER
From 17th July 2025 to 31st July 2025 or completion of the works, whichever is sooner. Notwithstanding the above, works will take place between 21:00 - 05:00 from Monday to Friday.
D) DIVERSION
Vehicles will be diverted from Southampton Road, Port Way, Newlyn Way Roundabout, Port Way and Southampton Road, Northern Road, Medina Road Roundabout, Northern Road, Portsmouth Road, Portsbridge Roundabout, Western Road.
Pedestrian access will be maintained around the works.
Cycles to follow vehicle diversion or dismount and follow pedestrian diversion around the works.
