What is happening?

SANDWELL METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL

The Borough Council of Sandwell (Chapel Lane, Great Barr) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2025 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Chapel Lane, Great Barr which will be closed between the junctions of Coronation Road (southern side) and Vicarage Rise (northern side). Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Access to The Holiday Inn/Vicarage Rise will be via Birmingham Road only. A traffic diversion route will be signed via Birmingham Road (north bound), Broadway North, Sutton Road, Beacon Road and vice versa. A further traffic diversion route will be signed via Birmingham Road (south bound), Queslett Road, Beacon Road and vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 05/09/25 effective from 14/07/25 (24hr). Purpose – To facilitate access for the installation of a 132KV high voltage cable by National Grid Electricity Distribution.
