What is happening?

CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (C1015 RICKERBY PARK AND BRAMPTON ROAD, CARLISLE) (CARLISLE SPRINT TRIATHLON) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to facilitate the holding of part of the Carlisle Sprint Triathlon (“the Event”) in Carlisle, Cumberland Council has made an Order under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the 1984 Act”) with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport under Section 16(B)(1)(b) of the 1984 Act, the effect of which is to:

  1. Prohibit any motor vehicle from proceeding along that section of the C1015 Rickerby Park, Carlisle, from its junction with Brampton Road, extending in an easterly direction for approx. 850m.

A suitable alternative route for motor vehicles will be signed and available via the unrestricted section of the C1015 Rickerby Park, Linstock Road, A689, A7 Kingstown Road, Scotland Road and Brampton Road.

  1. Prohibit any motor vehicle from proceeding other than in a northerly easterly direction along that section of the Brampton Road, Carlisle from its junction with the A7 Devonshire Terrace/Stanwix Bank to its junction with Longlands Road.

A suitable alternative route for south bound motor vehicles will be signed and available via the A689, A7 Kingstown Road, Scotland Road and Brampton Road.

N.B. Whilst the Event takes place, one lane of the south bound carriageway along Eden Bridges and Stanwix Bank will be closed and vehicles will be filtered into the remaining lane.

A way for pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained at all times.

The Order will come into operation on 20 July 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of three days from that date. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required for 1 day, between 0730 and 1230 hours on Sunday 20 July 2025 and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed
