Various Roads, Downend - Traffic Orders

Details of the proposed changes

Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council proposes to make the following orders under provisions contained in the Road Traffic Act 1984 as amended.

1. Ref. L3/STOP/PT.7016 - (Various Roads, Downend - Phase 2) (Prohibition and Restriction of Waiting) Order 202(-) - under sections 1(1), 2(1) to (3) and 4(2) of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the said Act the effect of which will be to: 

a) prohibit vehicles waiting at any time (double yellow lines) in lengths of Amberley Close, Amberley Road, Badminton Road, Boscombe Crescent, Bromley Heath Road, Cleeve Avenue, Clevedale, Cleeve Gardens, Cleeve Hill, Cleeve Hill Extension, Cleeve Lawns, Cleeve Lodge Close, Cleeve Lodge Road, Cleeve Park Road, Cleeve Road, Cleeve Wood Road (Main Carriageway), Cleeve Wood Road - Service Road in front of Numbers 1 to 27, Farm Court, Farm Road, Graham Road, Heath Court, Heath Gardens, Heath Road, Heath Walk, Meadow Close, Oakdale Avenue, Oakdale Court, Oakdale Road, Overndale Road, Sandringham Avenue, Westbourne Road, Westerleigh Road, Downend and Woodside Road, Mangotsfield;

b) restrict vehicles waiting between the hours of 8am and 6pm on Monday to Saturday (inclusive), three hours with no return within 6 hours in lengths of Cleeve Wood Road - Service Road in front of Numbers 1 to 27, Downend; 

c) vary further the South Gloucestershire Council (The Chase Area - South Gloucestershire) (Prohibition and Restriction of Waiting) (Consolidation) Order 2018, as varied, in so far as it relates to the lengths of road specified in item a) to item b) above, the provisions of which will be brought forward into the new order; 

d) revoke the South Gloucestershire Council (The Chase Area - South Gloucestershire) (Prohibition and Restriction of Waiting) (Consolidation) Order 2018, as varied, in so far as it relates to Bromley Heath Road, Cleeve Road, Heath Walk and Westerleigh Road, Downend, the provisions of which will be brought forward unchanged into the new order; 

e) vary further the South Gloucestershire Council (Various Roads, Rodway Ward, Soundwell and Emersons Green Area) (Prohibition and Restriction of Waiting) Order 2018, as varied, in so far as it relates to the lengths of road specified in item a) above, the provisions of which will be brought forward into the new order;

f) revoke the South Gloucestershire Council (Various Roads, Rodway Ward, Soundwell and Emersons Green Area) (Prohibition and Restriction of Waiting) Order 2018, as varied, in so far as it relates to Graham Road and Westerleigh Road, Downend the provisions of which will be brought forward unchanged into the new order; and 

g) revoke the South Gloucestershire Council (Boscombe Crescent and Meadow Close, Downend - St Augustine School Area) (Prohibition of Waiting) Order 2018.

Exemptions in the order permit any vehicle to wait for the purpose of boarding or alighting; loading or unloading goods; delivering postal packets; maintenance of the road; supply of gas, water or electricity; the pursuance of statutory powers or duties; taking in petrol, oil, water or air from any garage; weddings or funerals and in accordance with the current provisions for vehicles displaying a disabled person’s badge. 

N.B. It is likely only part of the roads listed are affected by the changes, and not the full length of each road.

2. Ref. L3/STOP/PT.7892 - (Cleeve Wood Road, Downend) (Designated Disabled Persons’ Parking Place) Order 202(-) - under sections 32 and 35 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the said Act the effect of which will be to provide designated disabled persons’ parking places at locations in Cleeve Wood Road, Downend.

4. Send all correspondence by 24 July 2025

5. Mark your correspondence for the attention of Grace Marsden. 

Please note that all the letters received may be considered in public by the Council. The content of letters, together with the name and address of the person making it, could become available for public inspection.
