Rockshaw Road - 40 Mph Speed Limit Order

What is happening?

THE SURREY COUNTY COUNCIL
Rockshaw Road (D387) Chaldon
(40 Mph Speed Limit) Order 202-

Surrey County Council propose to make the above-named Order, under section 84 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) and of all other enabling powers, the effect of which will be to

(a) impose a 40 miles per hour speed limit in that length of Rockshaw Road (D387) Chaldon as extends from its junction with (D388) Hilltop Lane and (D388) Warwick Wold Road westwards and north-westwards for a distance of 474.45 metres; and

(b) carry out legal drafting amendments to “Surrey County Council (Various Roads In Bletchingley Burstow Godstone Horne Felbridge Limpsfield Nutfield And Oxted) (40 Mph Speed Limit And 50 Mph Speed Limit) Order 1999” insofar as it affects that length of road specified in paragraph (a) of the Schedule to this Notice

The speed limit proposed by this Order shall not apply to vehicles used by special forces in accordance with the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011.

A copy of the proposed Order together with the plan showing the length of road to which this Order relates and a Statement of the Council’s reasons for proposing to make the Order may be viewed online at www.surreycc.gov.uk/roads-and-transport/policies-plans -consultations/roads-and-transport-consultations (follow the link to Rockshaw Road 40mph Speed Limit and Waiting Amendments Proposal).

Amendments to Waiting and Loading Restrictions in Rockshaw Road, Chaldon in the District of Tandridge

Surrey County Council propose to make “The Surrey County Council (Various Roads in Tandridge) (Amendment of Waiting Loading and Unloading Prohibition and On-Street Parking Places Orders) (Amendment No.2) Order 202-” The purpose and effect of the Order will be to make certain amendments to the waiting and parking restrictions in the District of Tandridge under Sections 1(1), 2(1) to (3), 4(2), 32, 35, 36, 45, 46, 49, 51 and 53 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”) as follows:-

(1) Amend “The Surrey County Council (Various Roads in Tandridge) (Revocation and Consolidation of Prohibition of Stopping Outside Schools) Order 2024” So as to prohibit the stopping of vehicles outside schools, as indicated by zig-zag markings on site, in certain lengths of Rockshaw Road, Chaldon, applying Monday to Friday (inclusive) 7am to 9.30am and 2pm to 5pm. The usual exemptions shall apply, namely any person causing a vehicle to stop in order to avoid an accident if required to do so by law; anything done with the permission of a police constable in uniform or in accordance with a sign placed by Surrey Police in accordance with Section 66 or 67 of the Act; or any vehicle which is displaying a valid waiver certificate issued by the Council;

(2) Amend “The Surrey County Council (Various Roads in Tandridge) (Revocation and Consolidation of Waiting Loading and Unloading Prohibitions and Restrictions) Order 2024” so as to:

(a) prohibit waiting at any time by vehicles in certain lengths of Rockshaw Road, Chaldon;

(b) provide that exemptions for loading on and unloading from vehicles, boarding, and alighting from vehicles, using vehicles for works on or adjoining the lengths of Rockshaw Road, Chaldon, the maintenance of those roads and the services in them and for disabled persons’ vehicles in accordance with the Blue Badge Scheme, will apply to the afore-mentioned restrictions;

(3) Make certain drafting amendments to the following existing Orders which impose waiting, loading and unloading and parking prohibitions and restrictions in the District of Tandridge, which will not affect the operation of those prohibitions and restrictions:- 

(a) The Surrey County Council (Various Roads in Tandridge) (Revocation and Consolidation of Free On-Street Parking Places) Order 2024; (b) The Surrey County Council (Various Roads in Tandridge) (Revocation and Consolidation of Free On-Street Loading Bays) Order 2024;

(c) The Surrey County Council (Various Roads in Tandridge) (Revocation and Consolidation of Free On-Street Parking Places) (Disabled Persons) Order 2024; (d) The Surrey County Council (Various Roads in Tandridge) (Revocation and Consolidation of Electric Vehicle Parking Places) Order 2024;

(e) The Surrey County Council (Various Lay-Bys in Tandridge) (Revocation and Consolidation of Free On-Street Parking Places) Order 2024;

(f) The Surrey County Council (Various Roads in Tandridge) (Revocation and Consolidation of Prohibition of Waiting of Heavy Commercial Vehicles) Order 2024; 

(g) The Surrey County Council (Various Roads in Tandridge) (Revocation and Consolidation of Residents’ On-Street Parking Places) Order 2024

Where a restriction is proposed herein any existing restriction on the same length of road will be revoked, unless otherwise indicated.

Copies of the proposed Order, together with plans showing the lengths of roads to which the Orders relate and a Statement of the Council’s reasons for proposing the Orders may be inspected, free of charge, at:

(1) Merstham Library, Portland Drive, Merstham, RH1 3HU, during normal opening hours; (2) Tandridge District Council Offices, 8 Station Road East, Oxted, Surrey, RH8 0BT, during normal office hours; and (3) Reception, Surrey County Council, Hazel House, Merrow Lane, Guildford, Surrey, GU4 7BQ, by appointment only.
