Essex, Multiple Roads, Temporary Closures Due To Various Works
What is happening?

(Cressing Road/Braintree Road, Cressing)
(Temporary Introduction of 30mph/20mph Speed Restriction)
Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
To temporarily introduce a 30 mph speed restriction in that length of Cressing Road/Braintree Road, Cressing in the District of Braintree, from a point approximately 25m south east of its junction with Cressing Road Roundabout in a south easterly direction for approximately 285m in a south westerly then south easterly direction (new road).
To temporarily introduce a 20 mph speed restriction in that length of Braintree Road, Cressing in the District of Braintree, from the junction with the new roundabout to a distance of approximately 200m in a south westerly then south easterly direction to the point it rejoins the new road.
The restrictions are scheduled to commence on 14th July 2025 for 291 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP40089364872B - Persimmon Homes Ltd). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The restrictions are required for the safety of the public and workforce while roundabout construction works are undertaken by Persimmon Homes Ltd.
The Order will come into effect on 3rd July 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(The Street, Cressing) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of The Street, Cressing in the District of Braintree, from a point approximately 110m south west of its junction with Lanham Green Road for a distance of approximately 100m in a south easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 23rd July 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AD0306165808 - Anglian Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while stop tap replacement works are undertaken by Anglian Water.
An alternative route is available via Lanham Green Road, Lanham Green, Boars Tye Road, Temple Lane and vice versa (with access only into Church Road and The Street).
The Order will come into effect on 3rd July 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months, or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Avenue Road/The Avenue, Witham) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Avenue Road/The Avenue, Witham in the District of Braintree, from its junction with Newland Street for a distance of approximately 155m in a south easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 18th June 2025 for 19 days or where stated on a valid permit (BC008OGEA014000166091 - City Fibre Ltd). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new duct works are undertaken by City Fibre Ltd.
An alternative route is available via Newland Street, Collingwood Road and vice versa
The Order will come into effect on 19th June 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Back Lane, Stisted) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Back Lane, Stisted in the District of Braintree, from a point approximately 50m south west of its junction with Sarcel for a distance of approximately 35m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 7th July 2025 for 5 days or where stated on a valid permit (EPD20331013 - Herron Taylor Ltd). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while wall repair works are undertaken by Herron Taylor Ltd.
An alternative route is available via Back Lane, The Street and vice versa.
The Order came into effect on 19th June 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Bakers Lane, Black Notley) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Bakers Lane, Black Notley in the District of Braintree, from a point approximately 165m south west of its junction with Church Road for a distance of approximately 280m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 10th July 2025 for 1 day or where stated on a valid permit (BC008OGEA0740739GR8 - Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by Openreach.
An alternative route is available via Bakers Lane, Church Road, Notley Road, St Michaels Road, High Street, London Road, Bakers Lane and vice versa.
The Order came into effect on 19th June 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
