TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING ORDER 2025
Notice is hereby given that on 26th June 2025 South Tyneside Council made an Order under S.14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”) the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit driving on the following sections of road:- No Right Turn from Newcastle Rd onto Henderson Rd via the link road, for its entire length. Closure to take place between the hours of 09.30 and 15.00. The Order is required
because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road, and in particular to enable Northern Gas Networks to complete replacement works. The Order will come into force on the 26/06/25. The maximum duration of the prohibition under this Order will be 18 mths however it is anticipated that the prohibition will only be needed from 30/06/25 for 26 days. All vehicles except those engaged in the works, will be prohibited on the road described above for the duration of the works. The prohibition shall only apply at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. During the prohibition, the alternative route will be via Newcastle Rd, northeast bound Waldridge Way/Wenlock Rd
Roundabout, Newcastle Rd southwest bound.
