ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984: SECTION 14(1)
TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC ORDER 2025
HIGHFIELD ROAD, OAKLEY 25 – 039
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of Highfield Road, Oakley.
This temporary road closure is required to facilitate a bridge inspection and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.
This temporary road closure is anticipated to be in operation 23:30 to 08:30 hours from 12th July 2025 to 13th July 2025
The signed alternative route for vehicles affected by the order is available via Pavenham Road, Bedford Road, East End, High Street, Bridgend, Carlton Road, Odell Road, Felmersham Bridge, The High Road, Hunts Lane, Radwell Road, Felmersham Road, Bridge End, New Road, Rushden Road, Paula Radcliffe Way, Milton Road, Highfield Road.
The reverse route applies.
The proposed Order will come into operation on 12th July 2025, for a period of 12 months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier. TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC ORDER 2025
COTTON END ROAD, WILSTEAD 25 – 030
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of Cotton End Road, Wilstead junction Whitworth Way.
This temporary road closure is required to facilitate repair sluice valve chamber cover and frame and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.
This temporary road closure is anticipated to be in operation 09:30 to 15:30 hours from 7th July 2025 to 9th July 2025
The signed alternative route for vehicles affected by the order is available via Cotton End Road, Luton Road, Wilstead Bypass, Wilstead Hill, Old Main Road, Church End Road, Great Lane, Plummers Lane, Silver End Road, High Road, Elms Lane.
The reverse route applies.

THE AVENUE, BLETSOE 25 – 035
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of The Avenue, Bletsoe from Bletsoe Road to Rushden Road.
This temporary road closure is required to facilitate a reinforcement project and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.
This temporary road closure is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours from 7th July 2025 to 22nd August 2025
The signed alternative route for vehicles affected by the order is available via C26 Bletsoe From A6 Rushden Road Sharnbrook To Uc33 Mill Road Thurleigh, Rushden Road.
The reverse route applies.

ST PAULS SQUARE, BEDFORD 24 – 144
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along St Pauls Square, Bedford from St Marys To Horne Lane.
This temporary road closure is required to facilitate carriage way reconstruction, narrowing and resurfacing. footway works. and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.
This temporary road closure is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours from 23rd July 2025 to 29th August 2025.
The signed alternative route for vehicles affected by the order is available via Horne Lane, River Street, Greyfriars, Hassett Street, Bromham Road, Hurst Grove, Ford End Road, Midland Road, Prebend Street, Cauldwell Street, St Johns Street, Kingsway Roundabout, Kingsway, St Marys Street, The Embankment, High Street, St Pauls Square.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along Church Road , Wootton.
This temporary road closure is required to facilitate replace damaged water chamber and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.
This temporary road closure is anticipated to be in operation 08:00 to 17:00 hours from 21st July 2025 to 23rd July 2025
The signed alternative route for vehicles affected by the order is available via Hall End Road, Keeley Lane, Wood End Road.
The reverse route applies.

RESTRICTION OF WAITING AND LOADING AND PARKING
PLACES) (CONSOLIDATION) ORDER 2018
(AMENDMENT NO.28) ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on 5th June 2025 Bedford Borough Council made the above Traffic Regulation Order, the effect of which is detailed below:
Effect of the Order:
1. To revoke existing single yellow line restrictions (No waiting Mon - Sat, 7am - 7pm) and to introduce double yellow line restrictions (No waiting at any time) on the following length of road:

A Ronald Close, Kempston
(i) On its north-western kerb, extending from its junction with
Chantry Road for a distance of approx. 10 metres in a northerly
direction.

2. To introduce a double yellow line restriction (No waiting at any time) on the following lengths of roads:

A Chantry Road, Kempston
(i) On its north-eastern kerb, extending from its junction with
Ronald Close for a distance of approx. 5 metres in a southeasterly direction.
B  Singer Way, Kempston
(i) On its south-eastern kerb, extending from a point approx.
26 metres north-east of the centre of Sunbeam Road for a
distance of approx. 101.5 metres in a north-easterly direction.
(ii) On its north-western kerb, extending from a point approx.
39 metres north-east of the projected centre of Sunbeam Road
for a distance of approx. 88.5 metres in a north-easterly direction.
C Ronald Close, Kempston
(i) On its eastern kerb, extending from its junction with Chantry
Road for a distance of approx. 10 metres in a northerly direction.

Date of Operation This Order will come into force on 9th June 2025 or as soon as practicable after this date.

High Court Challenge: Any person who desires to question the validity of this Order or any provision contained therein on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act has not been complied with in relation to the Order may, within six weeks of the date of this Notice, make application for that purpose to the High Court.

BEDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL PROPOSE TO INTRODUCE
SOME PARKING RESTRICTIONS IN HIGH STREET, HARROLD
Reason for Proposal:
Bedford Borough Council has received a request from Harrold Parish Council for a new parking restriction in the High Street in front of The Oakley Arms public house. Existing parking causes visibility issues for vehicles in the High Street and Brook Lane. This restriction is deemed necessary to maintain safety for highway users in the area.
Effect of the Order:
1. To introduce ‘No waiting at any time’ restrictions (double primrose lines) on the following lengths of road:

A High Street, Harrold
(i) On its north eastern kerb, extending from its junction with
Orchard Lane in a south-easterly direction to a point in line with
the projected boundary between no. 104 and The Oakley Arms
public house.

Relevant proposal documents may be examined during normal office hours at Borough Hall, Cauldwell Street, Bedford, MK42 9AP. They will also be available for viewing on the council’s website at www.bedford. gov.uk/proposedtro. The documents will be placed on deposit until 6 weeks after the Order is made or until it is decided not to continue with the proposal. FORMER NORTH BEDFORDSHIRE BOROUGH)
(LITTLE STAUGHTON: PUBLIC FOOTPATH No. 27)
MODIFICATION ORDER 2025
On 12 June 2025, Bedford Borough Council confirmed without modification the abovementioned order made under section 53(2)(b) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. The effect of the order as confirmed will modify the Definitive Map and Statement for the area by adding to them a length of Public Footpath in the Parish of Little Staughton to be numbered 27 in the Definitive Statement commences where it has a junction with the public road known as “Staughton Road”, Little Staughton approximately 48 metres north-east of the property known as “New Farm,” Little Staughton at Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OSGR) TL 1052/6431 then running in a northern direction for approximately 321 metres to the Pertenhall Parish Boundary at OSGR TL 1050/6463.
A copy of the Order and the Order map have been placed and may be seen free of charge at Borough Hall, Cauldwell Street, Bedford from 10am to 4pm on Weekdays (Bank and Public Holidays excepted) by appointment. The order comes into force on the day that it is confirmed but if any person aggrieved by the order wants to question its validity on the ground that that it is not within the powers of Section 53 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, or on the ground that any requirement of Schedule 15 of the Act has, or of any regulation made under the Act has not been complied with in relation to the Order, he or she may under paragraph 12 (1) of Schedule 15 to the Act within six weeks from 26 June 2025 make an application to the High Court.
