ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

THE A406 GLA ROAD (NORTH CIRCULAR ROAD, LONDON BOROUGHS OF BARNET, ENFIELD AND HARINGEY) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025

  1. Transport for London in consultation with the London Boroughs of Barnet, Enfield and Haringey hereby gives notice that it intends to make the above named Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 for the purpose specified in paragraph 2. The effect of the Order is summarised in paragraph 3.

  2. The purpose of the Order is to enable road resurfacing works to take place on a section of A406 North Circular Road.

  3. The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any vehicle from:

    (1) entering, exiting or proceeding on the A109 Station Road between its junctions with Friern Barnet Road and the A406 Pinkham Way and Telford Road, local access to be maintained between Friern Barnet Road and Lower Park Road;

    (2) entering, exiting or proceeding on the south-westbound carriageway of the A406 Telford Road and Pinkham Way between its junctions with Bounds Green Road and the vehicular access to the BYD Alan Day New Southgate and BP Petrol Station, A406 North Circular Road, London N11 2UJ;

    (3) entering, exiting or proceeding on the A109 Bounds Green Road north-westbound between its junctions with Cline Road and the A406 North Circular Road/Telford Road, local access to be maintained between Cline Road and Ring Way;

    (4) entering, exiting or proceeding on the north-eastbound carriageway of the A406 North Circular Road, Pinkham Way and Telford Road between its junctions with the unnamed Off-Slip Road connecting the north-eastbound carriageway of the A406 North Circular Road northbound to the A1000 High Road and Lower Maidstone Road, local access to Colney Hatch Lane will be maintained;

    (5) entering or proceeding on the unnamed Off-Slip Road connecting the A1000 High Road and Squires Lane with the north-eastbound carriageway of the A406 North Circular Road; local access to Colney Hatch Lane will be maintained;

    (6) entering or proceeding on the unnamed On-Slip Road connecting Atlas Road with the north-eastbound carriageway of the A406 Pinkham Way.

Works will be phased such that some restrictions will apply only at certain times.

The Order will be effective between 7th of July 2025 and 6th December 2025 every night from 10:00 PM to 05:00 AM or when the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. The prohibitions will apply only during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.

  1. The prohibitions will not apply in respect of:

    (1) any vehicle being used for the purposes of those works or for fire brigade, ambulance, or police purposes;

    (2) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a person authorised by Transport for London.

  2. At such times as the prohibitions are in force alternative routes will be indicated by traffic signs:

    (For the North Circular Road north-eastbound closure) via High Road, Great North Road, Archway Road, Holloway Road, Seven Sisters Road, and Green Lanes back to normal route of travel.

    (Station Road closure) – via Friern Barnet Road, Betstyle Circus Roundabout, Bowes Road/North Circular Road, Green Lanes, High Road and Bounds Green Road or reverse back to normal route of travel.

    (For the North Circular Road south-westbound closure) via North Circular Road, Green Lanes, Seven Sisters Road, Tollington Road, Holloway Road, Archway Road, Great North Road and High Road back to normal route of travel.

    (For the closure of the Unnamed On-Slip Road connecting North Circular Road north-eastbound with Atlas Road) via Atlas Road, Pegasus Way, Orion Road and Colney Hatch Lane, Friern Barnet Road, Betstyle Circus Roundabout, Bowes Road/North Circular Road to normal route of travel.
