What is happening?

VARIOUS ROADS, MEDWAY (COMMUNITY EVENTS) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) (NO. 3) ORDER 2025

Notice is hereby given that Medway Council have made an order the effect of which will be to impose the following temporary prohibitions or restrictions on traffic to facilitate the construction and removal of structures required for the holding of ‘Rochester Castle Live’ event, or because of the likelihood of danger to the public whilst the event is taking place

Traffic Management - To facilitate the holding of the event mentioned in column (1) of the Table, on the dates and between the times set out in the corresponding columns (2) and (3), the traffic management provisions detailed in the Schedule identified in the corresponding column (4) will apply. These provisions will be in force as indicated in the Schedule below. Alternative routes for through traffic will be signed locally. Access to premises will be maintained where possible.

This order will come into force on Saturday, 28 June 2025 and will cease to have effect on Friday, 11 July 2025. The order will only be effective when the appropriate signs are displayed.

Schedule RCL25-1: Intermittent road closures and traffic restrictions

Castle Hill from its junction with Esplanade to its junction with Epaul Lane, to include Castle Hill Court – to include suspension of one-way operation to allow resident/event vehicle access. Epaul Lane from its junction with Castle Hill to its junction with Boley Hill – to include suspension of no entry and one-way operation to allow resident/event vehicle access. Boley Hill from its junction with High Street to its junction with St Margaret’s Street. The roads above will be closed intermittently throughout these dates to allow for vehicle/ plant ingress and/or egress to the Castle Gardens and Castle Moat areas.

Schedule RCL25-2: Road closures and traffic restrictions
Castle Hill from its junction with Esplanade to its junction with Epaul Lane, to include Castle Hill Court – to include suspension of one-way operation to allow resident and event vehicle access. Epaul Lane from its junction with Castle Hill to its junction with Boley Hill – to include suspension of no entry and one-way operation to allow event vehicle access. Boley Hill from its junction with St Margaret’s Street to its junction with High Street, to include its junction with College Yard/Priors Gate Road. Boley Hill at its junction with High Street, suspension of no left or right turn for authorised vehicles only – (8am to midnight).

Schedule RCL25-3: Road closures and traffic restrictions
High Street Rochester from its junction with Corporation Street bus lane to its northwestern junction of Blue Boar Lane - to include suspension of one-way operation and no entry for authorised vehicles only. Northgate from its junction with Cathedral car park to its junction with High Street. Esplanade from its junction with High Street to its northern junction with Bakers Walk. A2 eastbound, prohibited right turn to Esplanade, Rochester.

Schedule RCL25-4: Suspension of on-street parking bays as indicated by signs. Suspension of single yellow line restrictions to no parking at any time, as indicated by signs and ‘At any time’ No waiting cones. From 6am on Friday, 4 July to 6am on Monday, 7 July - inclusive
Esplanade – from its junction of High Street to its northern junction with Bakers Walk (western and eastern sides), excluding Rochester Bridge Trust bays. Castle Hill – from its junction with Esplanade to its junction with Epaul Lane. Schedule

RCL25-5: Public footpath closure From 6am on Monday, 30 June to 6pm on Wednesday, 9 July – Inclusive
Two Post Alley – its entire length, intermittent closures to allow safe vehicle movements and crowd management.

SAUNDERS STREET, GILLINGHAM (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025
Notice is hereby given that Medway Council have made an order the effect of which will be to impose the following temporary prohibitions or restrictions on traffic to enable a telephone pole to be safety removed and replaced

Saunders Street, Gillingham - to be closed to all vehicular traffic between across the frontage of 136 Saunders Street and across the frontage of 164 Saunders Street. Pedestrian traffic will not be affected. An alternative route will be available via Fox Street, Arden Street, High Street and Mill Road.

This order will come into force on Thursday, 3 July 2025 and will be valid for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the sooner. The works are due to commence on or after Thursday, 3 July 2025 and are programmed for completion within two days. The order will be effective only when the appropriate signs are being displayed. The ‘one-way’ restriction in this section of Saunders Street will be suspended to facilitate access.

PILGRIMS ROAD, HALLING (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025
Notice is hereby given that Medway Council intend to make an order the effect of which will be to impose the following temporary prohibitions or restrictions on traffic to enable electricity supply works to be carried out

Pilgrims Road, Halling - to be closed to all vehicular traffic across the frontage of 114 Pilgrims Road. Pedestrian traffic will not be affected. An alternative route will be available via Vicarage Road, Kent Road, A228 and Formby Road.

This order will come into force on Monday, 28 July 2025 and will be valid for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the sooner. The works are due to commence on or after Monday, 28 July 2025 and are programmed for completion within three days. The order will be effective only when the appropriate signs are being displayed.

FRINDSBURY ROAD, STROOD (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025
Notice is hereby given that Medway Council have made an order the effect of which will be to impose the following temporary prohibitions or restrictions on traffic to enable gas main replacement works to be carried out -

Frindsbury Road, Strood - to be closed to all vehicular traffic between the junction with Grove Road and across the frontage of 27 Frindsbury Road. Grove Road and Goddington Road will also be closed at their junctions with Frindsbury Road. Pedestrian traffic will not be affected. Alternative routes will be provided and signed as the works progress.

This order will come into force on Monday, 7 July 2025 and will be valid for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the sooner. The works are due to commence on or after Monday, 7 July 2025 and are programmed for completion within three weeks. The order will be effective only when the appropriate signs are being displayed.

TREVALE ROAD, ROCHESTER (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025
Notice is hereby given that Medway Council intend to make an order the effect of which will be to impose the following temporary prohibitions or restrictions on traffic to enable electricity supply works to be carried out

Trevale Road, Rochester – to be closed to all vehicular traffic across the frontage of 34A Trevale Road, Rochester. Pedestrian traffic will not be affected. No alternative route is available. Emergency access will be maintained.

This order will come into force on Monday, 21 July 2025 and will be valid for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the sooner. The works are due to commence on or after Monday, 21 July 2025 and are programmed for completion within five days. The order will be effective only when the appropriate signs are being displayed.

SURDEE AVENUE AND COULMAN STREET, GILLINGHAM (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025

Notice is hereby given that Medway Council intend to make an order the effect of which will be to impose the following temporary prohibitions or restrictions on traffic to enable gas supply works to be carried out

Surdee Avenue and Coulman Street, Gillingham – to be closed to all vehicular traffic at the junction with Barnsole Road. Pedestrian traffic will not be affected. An alternative route will be available (a) Surdee Avenue – Third Avenue, Barnsole Road or Woodlands Road, Canadian Avenue, Livingstone Road, Barnsole Road. (b) Coulman Street – Barnsole Road, Napier Road or Napier Road, Nelson Road, Watling Street, Bransole Road.

This order will come into force on Monday, 28 July 2025 and will be valid for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the sooner. The works are due to commence on or after Monday, 28 July 2025 and are programmed for completion within twenty-three days. The order will be effective only when the appropriate signs are being displayed.

DILLYWOOD LANE, WAINSCOTT (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025

Notice is hereby given that Medway Council have made an order the effect of which will be to impose the following temporary prohibitions or restrictions on traffic to enable a new fibre optic cable to be laid

Dillywood Lane, Wainscott - to be closed to all vehicular traffic between the junction with Lower Rochester Road and across the frontage of Wren Cottage.  Pedestrian traffic will not be affected. An alternative route will be available via Bunters Hill Road. This order will come into force on Tuesday, 8 July 2025 and will be valid for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the sooner. The works are due to commence on or after Tuesday, 8 July 2025 and are programmed for completion within three days. The order will be effective only when the appropriate signs are being displayed.

BUNTERS HILL ROAD, WAINSCOTT (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025

Notice is hereby given that Medway Council have made an order the effect of which will be to impose the following temporary prohibitions or restrictions on traffic to enable a new fibre optic cable to be laid

Bunters Hill Road, Wainscott - to be closed to all vehicular traffic from the junction with Town Road to across the frontage of Blue Cottage’. Pedestrian traffic will not be affected.  An alternative route will be available via Hollywood Lane and Lower Rochester Road. This order will come into force on Thursday, 3 July 2025 and will be valid for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the sooner. The works are due to commence on or after Thursday, 3 July 2025 and are programmed for completion within 3 days. The order will be effective only when the appropriate signs are being displayed.

BREDHURST ROAD, GILLINGHAM (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025
Notice is hereby given that Medway Council intend to make an order the effect of which will be to impose the following temporary prohibitions or restrictions on traffic to enable electricity supply works to be carried out

Bredhurst Road, Gillingham - to be closed to all vehicular traffic across the frontage of 53 Bredhurst Road, Gillingham. Pedestrian traffic will not be affected. An alternative route will be available via Woodside and Drewery Drive.

This order will come into force on Thursday, 26 June 2025 and will be valid for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the sooner. The works are due to commence on or after Thursday, 26 June 2025 and are programmed for completion within four days. The order will be effective only when the appropriate signs are being displayed.

BARNSOLE ROAD (SIDE ROADS), GILLINGHAM (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025

Notice is hereby given that Medway Council have made an order the effect of which will be to impose the following temporary prohibitions or restrictions on traffic to enable gas main replacement works to be carried out

The following roads to be closed to vehicular traffic, each from the junction with Barnsole Road for a distance of 50 metres - (a) Brasenose Road, (b) Larkfield Avenue, (c) Alexandra Avenue and (d) Junction Road. Pedestrian traffic will not be affected. Alternative routes will be provided and signed as the works progress.

This order will come into force on Monday, 7 July 2025 and will be valid for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the sooner. The works are due to commence on or after Monday, 7 July 2025 and are programmed for completion within three weeks, except for the junction with Brasenose Road, which is expected to continue until 15 September. The order will be effective only when the appropriate signs are being displayed.

BARNSOLE ROAD, GILLINGHAM (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025

Notice is hereby given that Medway Council have made an order the effect of which will be to impose the following temporary prohibitions or restrictions on traffic to enable gas main replacement works to be carried out Barnsole Road, Gillingham - to be closed to all vehicular traffic in stages between the junction with First Avenue and the junction with Livingstone Road. Pedestrian traffic will not be affected. An alternative route will be available via Watling Street, Nelson Road, Gillingham Road or Watling Street, A289, Yokosuka Way, Gads Hill, Church Street, Ingram Road, Gillingham Road.

This order will come into force on Monday, 7 July 2025 and will be valid for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the sooner. The works are due to commence on or after Monday, 7 July 2025 and are programmed for completion by 15 September, 2025. The order will be effective only when the appropriate signs are being displayed.
