What is happening?

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2025
Sunderland City Council gives notice that on 24th June 2025 it made an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which is to temporarily prohibit all pedestrian traffic from the sections of footways and associated footpaths described in the schedule. The Order is required to allow for maintenance works to the gas main. The order comes into force on 4th July 2025. The maximum duration of the closure under the Order will be six months. However, it is anticipated that the works will take approximately four weeks. All pedestrians will be prohibited from the sections of footways and footpaths described in the schedule (except for personnel involved in the works), until the works are completed or at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. An alternative route will be provided.
Schedule: Heatherlaw from the extended eastern property boundary of 22 Heatherlaw to the extended western property boundary of 24 Heatherlaw; Heatherlaw from the eastern property boundary of 6 Heatherlaw to the extended north-eastern property boundary of 9 Heatherlaw; Pipershaw from the extended party property boundary of 13 and 14 Pipershaw to the western property boundary of 17 Pipershaw; Pipershaw from the extended southern property boundary of 14 Pipershaw for a distance of 40 metres in a northerly direction then in a south-easterly direction to its junction with Knoulberry Road; and Shield Close the entire footpath linking 14 Shield Close to the northern property boundary of 16 Pipershaw.
