What is happening?

DEPARTMENT FOR TRANSPORT HIGHWAYS ACT 1980 AND ACQUISITION OF LAND ACT 1981 

Notice is hereby given that Public Local Inquiries in connection with the Orders mentioned below will be held by an Inspector appointed for this purpose by the Secretary of State for Transport beginning at 10.00am on Tuesday 08 July 2025 at The Worcester Suite, Orchard Hotel and Restaurant, Beeston Lane, NG7 2RJ to hear representations from remaining objectors (as defined in the Compulsory Purchase (Inquiries Procedure) Rules 2007) and statutory objectors (as defined in the Highways (Inquiries Procedure) Rules 1994), from any other persons having an interest in the land the subject of the Compulsory Purchase Order and, at the Inspector’s discretion, to hear representations from any other persons who may desire to appear and be heard.

The Orders have been made by National Highways under the above-mentioned Acts and submitted to the Secretary of State for Transport for confirmation and are: (1) THE NATIONAL HIGHWAYS (A52 NOTTINGHAM JUNCTIONS, NOTTINGHAM, KNIGHT JUNCTION AND WHEATCROFT JUNCTION IMPROVEMENT) (SIDE ROADS) ORDER 2024. 

This is an Order under Sections 14 and 125 of the Highways Act 1980. (2) THE NATIONAL HIGHWAYS (A52 NOTTINGHAM JUNCTIONS, NOTTINGHAM KNIGHT JUNCTION AND WHEATCROFT JUNCTION IMPROVEMENT) COMPULSORY PURCHASE ORDER 2024. This is an Order under Sections 239, 240, 246, 249 and 250 of the Highways Act 1980.

The Orders relate to proposals to improve highways, stop up private means of access to premises and provide new means of access to the said premises all on or in the vicinity of the A52 Trunk Road Nottingham Knight Junction of the A52 with the A60 Loughborough Road/A60 and the A52 Trunk Road Wheatcroft Junction of the A52 with the A606 and Flawforth Lane in the parishes of Ruddington, Edwalton and Tollerton, in the District of Rushcliffe, in the County of Nottinghamshire.

Copies of the Orders and plans above have been deposited and may be seen free of charge at: West Bridgford Library, Bridgford Rd, West Bridgford, Nottingham NG2 6AT (Opening times Monday to Thursday – 9:00am to 6:00pm, Friday – 9:00am to 5pm, Saturday – 9:00am to 4.00pm, Sunday 11.00am to 3.00pm). Copies of any proofs of evidence, sent to or by the promoting authority, will also be available for inspection at all locations and the website listed above from 20 June 2025.

Proceedings on the above-mentioned Orders are being taken concurrently by virtue of Section 257 of the Highways Act 1980.
