A49 Preston Road, Standish – Restriction of Waiting

Notice of Proposals

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Wigan Borough Council, in exercise of the powers under Section 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and the Traffic Management Act 2004 and of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule

9 of the Act 1984, proposes to make the Wigan Borough (Decriminalisation of Parking) (Various Roads in Wigan Borough) (Traffic Regulation Consolidation) Order 2004 (Amendment No.609) Order 2025.

The effect of the order will be to introduce no waiting on the following lengths of road between the times and on the days specified below:

•      A49 Preston Road, Standish (west side) from a point 50 metres south of its junction with Avondale Street to a point 70 metres south of its junction with Avondale Street, 8am – 7pm on any day

There will be limited exceptions permitting vehicles to wait to enable people to board or alight; for the purpose of building and similar operations, removing obstructions to traffic, road works and works by statutory undertakers; for local authority, Water Companies and Post Office purposes; if the vehicles are fire service or police vehicles or ambulances, (liveried vehicles) or in connection with a funeral; to take on fuel, water or air at any garage; for the delivery or collection of goods and for loading or unloading; or the avoidance of an accident.

The Order also provides that if any vehicle is left in any road or length of road affected by the Order in contravention of any provision of the Order a penalty charge (in the amount set by the Council) shall be payable and/or the vehicle may be removed.

A copy of the proposed Order, the Order to be amended, the relevant map and of a statement of the reasons for proposing to make the Order may be requested by emailing s.eccles-churton@wigan.gov.uk

Any objection to the Order must be made in writing and specify the grounds thereof and must be made to the Assistant Director – Legal, Governance and Elections, Legal, Governance and Elections Division, Wigan Council, Town Hall, Library Street, Wigan, WN1 1YN or by emailing the above email address quoting reference RD/LS/ SEC/4149530 not later than 25th July 2025.

(Bradshaw Street, Orrell) (Temporary Closure) Order 2025

Notice of Proposals

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of the Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council proposes to make the Wigan Borough (Bradshaw Street, Orrell) (Temporary Closure) Order 2025.

The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven in Bradshaw Street, Orrell commencing on 26th September 2025 between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30 only.

The alternative route for traffic is: Orrell Road, Bankes Avenue and Park Road.

The Order is necessary to allow a Telegraph Pole Replacement
