Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.
ASHFORD AREA
A28 Canterbury Road, Kennington & Cemetery Lane, Ashford. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING, PROHIBITION OF RIGHT TURN & BUS/TAXI/CYCLE LANE SUSPENSION) TEMPORARY ORDER JULY 2025
To allow highway improvement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of A28 Canterbury Road & Kinneys Lane, Kennington and Cemetery Lane, Ashford. This order takes effect on or after 14th July 2025, with estimated completion by 10th April 2026.
14th July 2025 - 18th March 2026
The bus, cycle and taxi lane on A28 Canterbury Road will be suspended between the junction with Bybrook Road and M20 overbridge, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
14th July 2025 - 7th October 2025 & 21st January 2026 - 18th March 2026
Traffic will be prohibited from turning right from Cemetery Lane onto A28 Canterbury Road.
The alternative route for through traffic is via A28 Canterbury Road, (Roundabout at A2070 Willesborough Road and return).
Traffic will be prohibited from turning right from A28 Canterbury Road onto Cemetery Lane.
The alternative route for through traffic is via A28 Canterbury Road, Simone Weil Avenue, Simone Weil Roundabout (Drovers Roundabout), Simon Weil Avenue and Canterbury Road.
14th July 2025 - 18th January 2026
Traffic will be prohibited from turning right from A28 Canterbury Road onto Kinneys Lane.
The alternative route for through traffic is via A28 Canterbury Road, (Roundabout at A2070 Willesborough Road and return).
Traffic will be prohibited from turning right from Kinneys Lane onto A28 Canterbury Road.
The alternative route for through traffic is via A28 Canterbury Road, Simone Weil Avenue, Simone Weil Roundabout (Drovers Roundabout), Simon Weil Avenue and Canterbury Road.
Traffic will be prohibited from turning right from A28 Canterbury Road into the Holiday Inn access point.
The alternative route for through traffic is via A28 Canterbury Road, (Roundabout at A2070 Willesborough Road and return).
Traffic will be prohibited from turning right from the Holiday Inn access point onto A28 Canterbury Road.
The alternative route for through traffic is via A28 Canterbury Road, Simone Weil Avenue, Simone Weil Roundabout (Drovers Roundabout), Simon Weil Avenue, Canterbury Road.
2nd April 2026 - 9th April 2026, between the hours of 20:00 and 06:00 only
A28 Canterbury Road, Kennington will be closed between the junction with Simone Weil Avenue and Bybrook Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for through traffic is via A2042 Canterbury Road, North Street, A292 Somerset Road, Mace Lane, Hythe Road, A2070 M20 Junction 10 Roundabout, Kennington Road, Willesborough Road, A28 Canterbury Road and vice versa.
Bell Lane, Smarden. (TEMPORARY 40 MPH SPEED RESTRICTION) TEMPORARY ORDER JULY 2025
To allow pole testing works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order to impose a temporary mandatory 40 mph speed restriction on part of Bell Lane, Smarden, from 15th July 2025, for up to one day, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.
The temporary 40 mph speed restriction on Bell Lane will be imposed in the vicinity of Littlegates, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
Bethersden Road, Smarden, TN27 8QF (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JUNE 2025
To allow excavation works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Bethersden Road, Smarden, from 30th June 2025, with estimated completion by 2nd July 2025, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed at the junction with The Cut, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Bethersden Road, Smarden Road, Bull Lane, A28 Ashford Road, A262 Biddenden Road, High Halden Lane, Tenterden Road, A274 North Street, Headcorn Road, Bell Lane, Smarden Bell Road, Burnthouse Lane and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Church Road, Warehorne, TN26 2LR (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JULY 2025
To allow cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Church Road, Warehorne, from 20th July 2025, for up to one day, between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between Sheperds Well Cottage and Monks Hill Cottage, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Church Road, B2067 Kenardington Road, Warehorne Road, Appledore Road, School Road, B2080 Tenterden Road, The Street, Station Road, Arrowhead Lane, Snargate Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Faversham Road, Charing, TN27 0NR (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JUNE 2025
To allow signing and lining works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Faversham Road, Charing, from 30th June 2025, for up to one day, between the hours of 08:00 and 16:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from the junction with Stalisfield Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Faversham Road, A251 Canterbury Road, A251 Ashford Road and Broomfield Lane.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Godfrey Walk, Ashford, TN23 7ST (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JUNE 2025
To allow pothole repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Godfrey Walk, Ashford, from 30th June 2025, with estimated completion by 1st July 2025, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed opposite Waterman House, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Green Lane, Bethersden. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JULY 2025
To allow installation works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Green Lane, Bethersden, from 1st July 2025, with estimated completion by 4th July 2025, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of Green Lane Farm, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Green Lane, Pot Kiln Lane, Bull Lane, A28 Ashford Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Kingsland Lane, Westwell. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JULY 2025
To allow pothole repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Kingsland Lane, Westwell, from 1st July 2025, with estimated completion by 2nd July 2025, between the hours of 09:00 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between the junctions with Westwell Lane and Lenacre Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Lenacre Street, Sandyhurst Lane and Westwell Lane.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Maytham Road, Rolvenden, TN17 4NF (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JUNE 2025
To allow excavation works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Maytham Road, Rolvenden, from 30th June 2025, with estimated completion by 4th July 2025, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of Glebe Fields, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Maytham Road, A28 High Street, Tenterden Road, Rolvenden Hill, Rolvenden Road, B2082 Smallhythe Road, Peening Quarter Road and Palstre Court Road.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Royds Road, Willesborough, TN24 0GU (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JULY 2025
To allow cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Royds Road, Willesborough, from 1st July 2025, with estimated completion by 2nd July 2025, between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between numbers 28 and 34, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
School Hill, Warehorne. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JULY 2025
To allow telegraph pole replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of School Hill, Warehorne, from 14th July 2025, with estimated completion by 15th July 2025, between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside Hockley, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via School Hill, Malthouse Lane, Woodchurch Road, Spot House Lane and School Hill.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Snargate Road, Warehorne. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JULY 2025
To allow pole replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Snargate Road, Warehorne, from 20th July 2025, for up to one day, between the hours of 09:00 and 17:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed 150m north of the entrance to Forty Acres Farm House, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Church Road, B2067 Kenardington Road, Warehorne Road, Appledore Road, School Road, B2080 Tenterden Road, The Street, Station Road, Arrowhead Lane, Snargate Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
The Green, Woodchurch, TN26 3PB (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JUNE 2025
To allow overhead cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of The Green, Woodchurch, from 30th June 2025, with estimated completion by 3rd July 2025, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed outside number 37, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Lower Road and Front Road.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Toll Lane, Charing, TN27 0DS (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JUNE 2025
To allow new connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Toll Lane, Charing, from 30th June 2025, with estimated completion by 2nd July 2025, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed at the junction with Pett Lane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic heading South on Toll Road is via Wicken Lane, A20 Maidstone Road, Old Ashford Road, High Street, Pett Lane, and vice versa.
The alternative route for any through traffic heading North of Toll Lane is via Toll Lane, Pilgrims Way, A525 Charing Hill, The Hill, Pett Lane and vice versa.
The alternative route for Toll Lane is via Toll Lane, Wicken Lane, A20 Maidstone Road, Old Ashford Road, High Street, The Hill, A252 Charing Hill, Pilgrims Way.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
